I love my 18 tundra.... I bought it with the plan of keeping it for the long haul..... But even if that's not the case I havnt ended up upside down on it... And if you wanna play around with trading in for a new body style then the top 5 value holders are Tacoma wrangler 4runner tundra and Sierra..... Just something to think about

Have a friend with 2.7 eco f150 2016. 18 mpg average. Really nice interior. Paint chips easy. Sunroof broke under warranty. Like almost $3000 to repair.

Personally I wouldn't buy one new. Way over priced. Usred prices are very low compared to a Tundra. Might be worth it. Get the extra warranty.

They make crew cabs with the 6.5ft bed. You don’t need an extended cab for that.

They are very hard to find. The 250 crew cab 6.5 bed is easier to find but still hard.

Yeah I agree it’s hard to find f150s with the 6.5’ beds, but 6.5’ bed f250 trucks are a dime a dozen. It’s finding 8’ beds that’s difficult to find if you want a nicer truck than a base work truck. At least in Texas it’s like that

I had a 2018 F150 rental from Enterprise with the 5.0. V8 Engine, 20k miles on it, driven like who knows what, and ya know what? That thing felt brand new. It Certainly didn't bounce down the I25 like my Tundra. I put 2k miles on it, loved it. Even seated 6 like my DC. Best part. I booked an economy car, so I paid very little!

I had an 04 that I actually really liked. Ended up selling it for more than I paid for it and it had 212k miles on it without any issues. It was apparently a special order that was basically a work truck when it came to electronics and the 4.6 had very little power but it got me where I needed to go. I average 17.0-18.0 (highway miles) in my 5.7 2018 Tundra. Oh, and 381 horsepower and gobs of mid-range torque with no turbo lag. I'll keep it.

I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment. I've owned something like 17 vehicles, and if I rank all of them in terms of reliability - my Tundra ranks near the bottom for me. I would guess it comes in somewhere around 13th-15th. While it has been a "decent" truck, it isn't anywhere near the reliability beast I was expecting. Definitely not anything like the 2 4Runners that I have owned - they both sit at #1 and #2 in terms of reliability for vehicles I have owned.

I think those Triton V8's were pretty solid right? My brother also has a 2000 with over 300K miles now. Now, he's had to do a lot of work to it over the years but he's not one to take care of his vehicles at all. He's still on the original transmission. I still see a ton of that generation F-150 on the road so they must have done something right back then.

Yes. And I don't understand this. I guess some people just don't mind having a truck payment forever.

My dad has a '97 F150 with the 4.6L V8. Other than it being gutless and ugly, it has been a pretty solid truck. He has about 120,000 miles on it now and I think the only thing he has had to do to it out of the ordinary is replace an exhaust manifold at around 100K.

I looked at F150 and Ranger. Both in limited/platinum trim. Family works for Ford so my discount was good but not good enough to sway me from my Tundra. I wanted reliable and good resale down the road. A client had F150 lemon law took it, so he got another to try it again. He wished he hadn’t. Several employees have the F150 EcoBoost and they seem to quietly look over longing after the tundra.... no really, they to have had a lot of issues. One guys turbo went by 45,000 miles. He jumped back in on a new F150 to the improved EcoBoost. Yet he always checks on the tundra.

Triton are known for spark plug issues and head gaskets failing. You can get 200,000 plus on them if you keep them up and don't run them hard. I believe the v10s were the best of the bunch back then but they sure were gas hogs. Ford has been pretty good with transmissions except for the 04-05 years. If Ford would have stayed away from those turbos on Gas engines, they'd have sold 100,000s of more. Granted you can buy a turbo for a 2.7 or 3.5 pretty cheap now. I'd have a Ford if Toyota wasn't around. Don't like the Aluminum bodies and the V6s.

    I might have me a 4 runner before too long. I just can't believe they're 40,000 plus now for a SR-5

I'll say I had a 2008 F-150 Laredo and it was the best vehicle I've ever owned...until now of course. I put a 2" leveling kit on it and it ended up getting about 13.5mpg average. It had the V8. I would not want to own one of the twin turbo v6s. I see the turbos as a maintenance hazard down the road. I prefer to stick with the v8s. I talked to my car maintenance guy and asked his opinion on whether I should get another F-150 or get a Tundra. He didn't bat an eye and said Tundra. I asked him why and he said because I never see them in my shop!!! He said, I'm about to go out and buy me one! So later that afternoon, I secured my new 2019 Tundra. I look forward to driving it most of the rest of my life.

Im currently driving a 19' f150 xlt 4wd w/16 k miles as a rental this week. Ive liked the ford f150s for some time and often thought maybe Id explore getting one but this thing does not compare the slightest bit to my 15' tundra CM. I dont like the v6 and the interior feels and looks cheap. I like the car play but thats about all.

Well, let's do the math, the F150 has been the #1 selling vehicle in the US for how long??? So of course there will be many more in for repair, etc. There is a reason it is the #1 selling, sure it's is marketing, and brand/national pride and loyalty, but it is a decent truck. I dont care for the look, or styling, but dont think bashing is necessary. I'm not a Toyota guy either, and frankly, had I not found my 2017 TRD PRO in DC Cement, I would be driving a Ram Power Wagon of GMC Sierra All Terrain. The Tundra was everything i wanted and nothing I didn't. A good looking honest truck, even though it shakes its booty like Beonce or J Lo on washboard roads, and has 1980's technology.....

If I didn’t drive so much per year I’d have a new ram or Sierra as well. They are so nice, quiet, comfortable , and I appreciate the new tech. Just can’t gamble with that kind of depreciation for any of the big 3.

1980s tech..... so true lol....... but hey the tundra got push button start and car play in 2020- they’ve stepped it up to early 2000s now.

If I was in the market for the Ford I'd probably snatch up a Coyote motor. Get the V8 growl for cheap. They seem to be price pretty reasonably now that it's considered more of a base engine option.

Had a 2013 Crew Cab, 3.7 V6 because I didn't want the EB. Truck gave good service. No issues with it at all. Had 137,000 when I traded it on a used 2018 Tundra SR5 TRD 4x4 with 10,000 miles on it. Biggest issue was it wouldn't tow as much as I wanted and the 3.7 was kinda weak. If I had kept it, I would have expected 200K+ miles out of it. Now, with the Tundra, it will probably last until I don't drive anymore.
