A sweet $8,687 discount. What’s the rebate in your neck of the woods?

Bought a limited with Trd upgrade as well as limited premium package. It had a 51k retail price and I paid 42k plus tax and license. 8k+ discount due to the 4K rebate offered at the time and the dealer discount. Seen some cheaper and some more expensive. I’m happy with the deal, it seems fair.

Just bought mine on the 17th. Cav Blue, TRD Off-Road and SR5 upgrade packages. Negotiated final price on the truck I bought was $40k even. Had one dealership quote me at $39,600 but they didnt have the color I was looking for in stock and said the price was contingent on dealer trade.

Here’s a question that may have already been talked about but I am curious. I have never looked at buying a new truck but as I look at used prices they seem like they aren’t too far off of buying a new 2019. Here’s my question. If I’m looking at a price on cargurus or autotrader do they normally already include the $3k rebate or can I figure in taking off another $3k from that price? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Thanks for the help!

Purchased a new '19 Platinum today. Sticker was $53025, paid $44025 which includes the $3k rebate. That is an 11.3% discount before rebate which appears to be in line with other discounts here.

Tell them to take another $1500 off of that. I just bought that exact model/options (based on MSRP) for $40k even but could have gotten another 300-500 off through another dealership had I not been picky on the color.

Ask for an 11% discount off MSRP, then remove the rebate from that amount.
    50,000 MSRP
    -5,500 discount (11% off)
-3,000 rebate (may be more or less in your zip code)
    =41,500 (Selling price)
Then add tax, title, document fee. Do not allow them to add rust proofing, etching etc.

If you have a trade, don't tell them. Negotiate the deal up top first then negotiate the trade separately.
    50,000 MSRP
    -5,500 discount (11% off)
-3,000 rebate (may be more or less in your zip code)
    =41,500 (price before trade)

    -10,000 (hypothetical trade value)
    =31,500 (selling price)
Then add tax, title, document fee. Do not allow them to add rust proofing, etching etc.

If they wont do the 11%, continue to the next dealer and repeat. If you have balls, ask for 12% (this is a mega deal most wont do).

    Ciao, Bear

I negotiated my trade separately without them knowing what I owed, but while also working the OTD price. Until the last few hundred bucks, everything was worked out via email. I was pretty far ahead on the trade and asked them to match the Carvana offer, which they did and without really having to haggle. At the end of the deal my saleslady called me and had me on speaker phone right off the bat for about 20 seconds without even speaking to me after I answered. I could her talking to the manager and he was like "and we're doing how much on the trade? Ok, $21,083 so that one is a wash."

I was trading in a 2016 Mustang GT with the performance package and 55k miles. $21k is far from a wash. I knew what they were doing, trying to let me think I was hearing them going over the numbers so I would think they weren't making much on the sale. They had gone over the numbers long before that call.

Honestly though, it was a really nice dealership. My saleslady was genuinely very nice and accomadating, spent a lot of time waiting with me that I'm pretty sure she didn't have to, and they didn't bug me a bit about add-ons when I signed off on the deal. Plus they had free hotdogs and ice cream...

And for the record, they have my mustang on their website for $26,200 right now.

The suggestion from Bear to use 11.2% off msrp before the rebate is right on the money. I used it trying to purchase a 2019 SR5 Tundra with a sticker of $49,400 and the dealer came back within $400 dollars of a 11.2% discount. I offered $40,003 with the $3k rebate included and they claim they can’t go any lower than $40,403. I am a patient buyer.

My bad, MSRP was $48,426. It’s a 4WD CrewMax model and has the TRD Off Road package, TRD Sport convenience package, SR5 upgrade package, blackout package, etc. It looks exactly like a Pro model but with different wheels and front grill.

Have been following Bear on these forums and he is right. 11.2% and some dealerships even more. I am finalizing a lease deal for me and 2 co-workers. I am getting 11.2% and even more before incentives.

    Bear any experience on leases?

Why take the $3k route instead of the 0%? Won't most loans be above 3ish% or is the approach to not keep the truck forever so it's a mute point?

    I buy/lease a new truck each year.
One could take financing if it suits their situation.

    YES!!!

If you go to leasehackr.com there is tons of info on leasing, check out my (and many other) many lease posts there.

Picked up a 2 year 30k mile (15k a year) lease on a 2019 SR-5 Crew 4x4 Off-Road with black out badges, spray in liner and SR-5 Upgrade package for $250.12 a month (including 5% WI tax) with $650.12 down (first month payment of 250.12 plus $100 reg and $300 fee) and $250 fee at and of lease.
Toyota Finance leases totally stink, you have to ask to go through Ally or U.S. Bank
You still have to negotiate 11.2% off MSRP before rebate to get this deal as it is all connected.

This thread has been very helpful. Yesterday, I bought a 2019 Platinum (Magnetic Gray), MSRP $53,250, for $45,400. They wouldn’t go lower, but did throw in front TRD sway bar (I’ve owned a 1794 with TRD package and think the TRD sway bars make a significant difference), a bed liner plus cargo divider, and Predator tube steps as part of the deal. Very happy to be back in a Tundra!

I was able to get $4k cash back in my neck of the woods and I was able to get 60 months for 2.49% from my credit union and was also offered 2.74% for 72 months. It likely pays to shop around on financing and to run the payments through an online calculator. I take the total amount paid as my primary focus, not monthly payments, and I also keep the time value of money in mind. I would generally rather take a discount now as opposed to spread over five or six years.

My suggestion? I would offer $39,673 on the last day of the month. 2020’s are already hitting the lots, dealers are motivated to move the 2019’s.

Smart from a financial perspective. Auto makers love buyers that need to have the latest and greatest by purchasing a new car every year or two.
