Turns out Key sense wire is needed. Trucks with factory alarm and glass break sensor need the wire. If don't use the key sense wire, your trucks alarm will go off. If your truck is his this option you should contact James for clear instruction on how to properly connect the key sense wire.

Sounds like key sense wire is not needed if you don't have factory alarm with glass break sensor.

 

This may be a really stupid question, but how do you know if you've got a factory alarm and/or glass break sensor?

 

Window stickers, and in the center console next to your aux port you will have a microphone that says Toyota Security on it.

 

I programmed my evo one myself. There is an option to enable if you have a factory alarm. It disarms the alarm prior to starting the truck then re arms it after. I wonder if this is want you need.

Also I did not use the key sense on my install.

 

I got a shipping label, then a cancelation, I'm assuming mine was in the batch that needed to be reprogrammed.

 

When did you order? I ordered mine back on 8/4, but haven't heard a peep. I'm in no rush, but just curious.

 

Ordered Aug 2nd, shipping and cancellation notifications on the 9th, along with an email from James reassuring me my order was still good, Wiring instructions on the 12th. Nothing since. As long as I have it before snow starts flying.

Please tell me I didn't just throw away $200. Price is still good.

I didn't have a hard time completeing the transaction. It would return to cart and give me a PayPal error. Took 5 tries until it went through. Strange.

Just received my shipping notice, but James emailed me and said the new extended remotes are not compatible with the mycar app. I originally bought all three items (remote start, remotes, mycar app), so he's refunding the remotes and said the mycar app is the better option of the two. Fyi for others that may have ordered all three like me. Sounds like the older remotes were compatible, but not the new ones.

I just got mine installed yesterday. No extra wiring (all plug/play). I have the factory alarm and glass break.
When I press the lock three times sequence; the truck unlocks, cranks and then after about 5 secs. locks back. I think this unlocking/cranking/locking sequence is to avoid the alarm.

So far, I've used the remote start about 5-6 times and have not had any issues.

I ordered 8/3 but I figure it will happen soon that or they are still working on the 2018-19 models and shipping the 07-17. The trend I see is after the blimp with the software, the early models are getting the shipping notifications not the people who have 18-19 models, that’s my guess but I’m in no rush because I will have installation questions anyway

 

I ordered my 8/7...hope to get my shipping notice soon then...getting excited!
