So I changed my pads and rotors out. 2007 tundra trd 4x4 5.7. After all was done the parking brake light was still on. filled up fluid and it went away. But brakes feel soft. Bled brakes several times to get rid of air but still feel soft.

If brakes feel soft even after you bled the air out, you might need to change the master cylinder.

Any other suggestions on what could be causing this problem? I was thinking master cylinder as well.

I recently had troubles with a soft brake problem. We found a front caliper that had gone bad so replaced it yesterday. I haven’t driven it much since yesterday. I’m hoping today I find it to be better feeling but I’m preparing myself for soft brakes. Seems like any project I get into like this it takes way too many fixes. It’s like a long chain of events every time for me to get things fixed and tidied up!

Has anyone had a shop replace your master cylinder? What kind of price would someone be looking at? Thanks?

If you didn't have the problem before, try rebleeding it again with the two person method.

I had a highly reputable shop work my soft brake issue. They did multiple bleeds with no luck. They replaced the MS no luck or charge. Finally they said take it to a dealer may be a special techstream bleed. Asked dealer if they would do a bleed they said probably not the problem. Pads were 50%rotors fine btw. The service rep suggested pad change and they had a special 200 front or back breaks. He guaranteed no soft brakes. Spent the 400 and brakes were perfect and firm. Been fine ever since.

The tech that works tundras at my dealer does great work and has been reasonable and honest in the past so I took a chance. I’d still like to know just what fixed it and the dealer claimed it’s usually just new pads. I’ve read stories here about folks doing new pads and still soft brakes so I don’t know what really fixes the soft brakes. I suspect it’s something the techs know and they sell you new pads and turn the rotors. To me it was well worth it. They got me.

I had soft brakes as well, and when I heard the squealer on my fronts, I bought pads for all four corners and changed them in my shop. The rotors were fine. I adjusted the e-brake at the same time which resolved my poor parking brake holding power on any kind of slope. The brakes work better now than when I bought the truck new!

I just went thru this with my '07 Tundra.......sometimes the brake seemed soft and then OK......Weird right......so I took off the right rear tire (already checked and confirmed front brake pads were like new) and got 1 caliper bolt off and loosened the other enough to swing the caliper out of the way so I could see the pad which were also like new........ so I put it all back together only to find out I had VERY soft brakes now.......so I changed ALL 6 flexible brake lines with Stainless Steel flexible lines from RockAuto and now them brakes are EXCELLENT. Exercising that brake hose by swing the caliper out of the way only made my soft brakes worse and it was the only thing I did to the truck other then remove the front tires and one rear tire.
