Here we go. I'm gonna attempt this swap. I picked up this good condition bumper this morning, got it home and cleaned up. The PO had black plasti dip on the corners, I peeled it up for a fresh coat and found clean chrome. I'm torn now, it is the front bumper, so I'd rather not paint it, as it'll look like shit after the stone chips start showing up. I'm thinking spray bed liner on the center section, with heavy black plasti dip and glossifier on the end caps... as it's more durable than paint. Or just bedliner black over the whole bumper and call it a day. Either way, can't do shit with all the rain we're having lately, I'll keep this thread updated as it progresses. Here's the before shot, and the new bumper.

Don't think that is going to look good. There is going to be a big gap under the panels beneath your headlights since the grille comes down in the middle.

I'll be cutting the OE bumper at the body line... That's where they split on the multi piece bumpers on the platinum model. The upper bumper trim is actually sold separately. I can make a clean cut at that line and mate the two together like this pic...

Photos of what? swap pics? I'm only swapping the bumper, keeping the 2nd gen fenders, lights, grill, etc. I'm doing the swap so I can get a clean mounted 30" light bar in the bumper, and I like the fog light mounts better on the 3rd gen. I already ordered the cube light mounts for it too. Post up some pics of the swapped bumper, I've only seen one 2nd gen with this swap. It was a white one.

My upper bumper cover arrived yesterday, it looks like it will require some finessing to get it to mate correctly with the 3rd gen lower. The other issue is, it's friggin cold out. I need to paint the upper cover, and paint the chrome ends of the 3rd gen black as well. Once that's done, she'll be ready to throw on. I'll post an update shot today of the 2nd gen upper and 3rd gen lower together when I get home.

Ok, it's been a lil while. This project is moving, just slow. Just started a fox body project, and having a building constructed on my property have taken most of my time. Here's some update, as little as it is... Fabbed up some brackets to fit this 31" bar behind the opening in the new bumper.

I still need to fill the holes where the OEM park assist was in the new bumper. Then get the chrome painted black. I also need to paint the urethane upper bumper before install. Maybe another week out.

Been done, installed, hit a couple deer, had to change it up again. But heres the pic of the part we're discussing here.

Since then, I've switched up to this... Hit a couple deer (at one time) and trashed that bumper, here's how we sit today...

Love that new bumper, may i ask where you got it?

also, did the 3rd gen bumper bolt right up or did you have to mod things?

    looked great!
