Hello, what are the difference in diff drops from a 3" to a 6" lift?

I know with a 3-4" lift its recommended to have a 1" diff drop, but do 6" lifts get anything extra to compensate for the added lift in comparison to the 3" lift? Does the drop bracket add the needed from or is that for only structural purposes?

    Thanks

Nothing? Just curious on the diff drop is achieved with taller lifts. I tried searching here, but couldnt find the answer

    6" RCD lift
the drop brackets for 6" lifts should already compensate for the diff. Nothing else is needed.

Ah I see! Thank you for the clarification! I'm a Rough Country 4/2.5 and I already need a 3rd cv... So looks like I'll be looking at getting a lift with a drop bracket and remove current diff drop.

    Thanks!

A 4 inch lift that isn’t a drop bracket? Of course you will burn the cv’s that is a lot of angle

Quick question. If I go with a 3/2 lift on my 2018 tundra, is a diff drop required? I don’t do any off-roading and if I ever do it’ll be a little light mudding. Any information would be appreciated.

@nick_aysen It depends on what it's doing. Which lift are you referring to? I know a lot of guys on here are happy with the toytec 3/1, and as far as they go toytec does a pretty good job of their levels/lifts for our trucks (Tundras).

I’m kinda on a budget so I’m thinking of going with the proformfab 3” spacer in front and 2” shackle in the rear. I’m just needing to know if I need a diff drop or not. Some people have told me that it’s not needed with a 2.5” level spacer in front but will .5” more make that big of a difference in the cv anglesthat it would warrant the diff drop?

    Is your truck a 4x4 or just a 4x2?

Subscribing. I’m wondering same question. Looking either Icon or Toytec just depends on finances at lift time.

@nick_aysen I cannot speak to proformfab as I am not familiar with them. In terms of the toytec lifts they do show using a front drop diff kit on their 3" spacer "lift" link here --->

Generally speaking spacer lifts can be rougher than an extended OEM shock set-up, but what you decide as being "rough" is up to you. I have two buddies who love their spacer levels, it's in the eye of the beholder! just my worthless $.02

Depends on how your angles are. Every truck is different. But honestly a $25 diff drop can save you money in the long run. Normal rule is 3 inches or more use diff drop

Just like a 4Runner then. Same philosophy applies to them.
