BUY THEM WHILE YOU CAN!!! I bought 1 at $159 and 1 with best offer for $119.25.
Why buy 2? Just incase mine were to go missing I will have a extra, and because at the price everyone else is charging, I see sticky fingers trying to get them when you leave unattended. Hope this helps everyone in the Tundra community who is looking for this part at a great price.

I read somewhere here that a Tacoma garnish can be mildly trimmed to fit the tundra grills and they are under $50. But this is a heck of a deal for a true tundra garnish. Good find!

Look could be deceiving, but read the feedback from their customers and I personally think it is legit. I have no problem playing the guinea pig with eBay and PayPal backing me all the way.

Still a great find either way. Let us know how it turns out. I have an aftermarket one now anyways so I’m sure it couldn’t be any worse.

The more I look at this item and the concern from others it could most positively be a fake, but what the hell I will take it over what they actually cost.

Looks like the design is raised. If thats so your radar will not work.

It's absolutely not a legit OEM part but in the other thread about this I'm speculating that it's a copy made in a factory that copies other OEM parts.

I think it should still work. My aftermarket one has a raised design to match the grille and it works just fine. So far anyways..

The question I always ask mydeis would I do it. Would I trust a saftey feature to work with aftermarket part . The answer is always no. Its the same reason no insurance company in their right mind uses aftermarket airbags. The pre collision feature is a saftey item.

Body panels and glass are safety items too, but plenty of adequate aftermarket choices out there

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not endorsing the fact that everyone should use aftermarket parts on safety systems. I was just referring to the comment about it not working if the design is raised. I currently have an aftermarket one, and it works. However, I’d like to get an OEM version to replace it. Hence my interest in this thread.
As with anything you see, hear, or read online. You should always do your own research, consult owners manuals, etc and make your own informed decision.

Certain glass yes is considered saftey. But there really isn't such a thing as "oe" glass just glass that has tradmarked emblems. Body panels are considered saftey for the most part. There isn't such a thing as a aftermarket door or quarter. Fenders are really just appearance pieces. Just so you don't think I'm a keyboard know it all my experience is body shop related, I run one.

Your knowledge and experience are definitely valuable here. So you wouldn't ever use an aftermarket steel bumper either? The grille garnish is just a piece of plastic. Is there something special with what the OE one is made of or how it's made? The actual safety equipment is the mm wave sensor sitting behind it.

No issue with steel am bumpers as long as its certified. capa, platinum plus, aqrp or nsf. The hesitation i have with the millimeter wave radar cover is the radar has to look through it. Jag, Hyundai and I think land rover have the same setup as Toyota. I know for instance hyundai spent 100 million to develop a plastic that the millimeter wave radar can see through. So if you take that into account thats why Id be weird about using the aftermarket. Fun fact about the millimeter wave radar, if you remove the grill, change the height of the vehicle i.e. lift kit, bigger tires it needs to be calibrated. 350 bucks at the local dealer for us. Take the tailgate off on your truck? Your camera needs to be recalibrated 350 at the local dealer lol. We just did a fully loaded Camry, all we did is fix the passenger door. 1,025 in calibrations because of the camera. All the vars are getting like this now.

it says on the item decription that its unbranded.

to piggy back on what brute is saying, the radar has to be able to correctly send the signal out, paint the target and correctly receive that signal in order to properly function. in the world of aircraft the radome (nose cone) sits in front of the radar. should it be damaged by a bird strike or similar a very specific repair must be performed and after it's all said and done a "transmissivity" test has to be performed to avoid incorrectly painting a storm or terrain.

I use mine all the time even in rush hour. i can engage it down to 28 and actually roll for a long time in traffic without braking or speeding up and slowing down. if others could do that too traffic would move better and we wouldn't have to listen to the first gear turbo dump valve operators going pssshh every 5 feet in their wrx or similar.

I’d buy it and try it if I needed the part. If it works it works. The safety of it isn’t a huge concern to me. It’s not like a seatbelt. I don’t rely on the safety feature and honestly couldn’t care less about it. Never had that feature till I bought this truck and don’t need it now.

How does it mount? Do you have a picture of the back? That is the only thing I seen missing from the eBay add.

The OEM copy is still decreasing, looks like it'll be in the same range as the Tacoma piece in a few months

Yea OEM ones are ~$280 now. Definitely getting better. Anyone purchase one of these ebay knockoffs? They look kinda cheap in comparison. Just wanted to see a picture of one installed.

I just ordered one to have a spare. Probably won't need it, but at $59 I'll take it and hold on to it just in case. :)
I can post up pics once I get it

I am considering switching to the 2019 painted surround and grille for my 2015 SR5. This cover would definitely work for me since I do not have the sensor on my 2015. Just need this plate to hide the opening in the grille.
