well Taco-Bender The better half and I did a round trip to Santa Fe/Taos NM. gallery swap/visits.. we had several items on the bedslide... none ever got hot like you would think.. highest temp driving across the dry lands was 98+ and checked at a fast stop.. was not hot at all.. I haven't had time to do the trunk carpet layer yet.. but so far so good!

Quick question, yes I am going to go look it up but cap owners might know quicker. I am waiting for my MX cap from ARE to come in but just started wondering what is the stranded tint if any. Completely forgot to ask if that is some added option. Was going to get fronts tinted to match the back and started thinking, What is the cap going to have, am I going to want cap tinted to match?

    Thanks for the follow-up TamuTundra

We're on our way to Ohio to pick up a boat and spent the night in the back of the truck last night in Albuquerque. Thought it was going to be worse than it was but we both slept great.

My Z came tinted. Looks like 20% to me. Same as the back windows came.

Mine matched the rear doors really well. Can't tell any difference.

Turning my RCSB into an overlanding roadtripping vehicle, man there's so much room back there...picked up a brand new bedrug cover for it, brand spanking new for $50. Dude had no idea what he was selling and said he just wanted to get it out of his garage that his brother left behind. This is $430 on Amazon, it dramatically transform the inside of my bed. Looks a lot newer now.

    After

Mocking up the elevated sleeping platform, it's 30"x72" and i have the same size high density foam mattress for it. On the floor is 26" of sleeping space for my gf if there's ever a chance in hell that she'll come along. Most of the time it's for my buddy when we go crabbing/fishing early in the morning.

On the left side of the bed i'll build a little shelf to store more junk, and serves as a table for eating as well when it's raining out.

Anyone know off the top of your heads the total height of a MX top from ARE on a stock Tundra, or just how much height it added.

Do any of you crewmax guys miss the full airflow of having a shell on when you roll down the back window?

I do, it’s really noisy now with the back window down.

I am enjoying the quiet full flow of air through the back window while my cap is off, I will miss that once the cap is reinstalled.

I sometimes wish I had bought a tonneau cover. I liked rolling down the window and it was fun for the kid and dog. And I could see much better.

Then we go camping and I'm thankful we have the Leer shell. I did have to take off the Thule bars because my office garage has 6'7" clearance at spots. I also ripped the rear bar out of the tracks in a parking garage at Copper last winter. Accident waiting to happen.

My snugtop rebel is not flush with the cab. About 2 inches of space or so. I still get airflow and it is actually less noisy. Also I can leave back window open and not worry about any one getting into the truck on hot days.

Just picked up this snugtop and a bedrug for cheap. They don't look as sleek, but the high top's making camping out of the back so much nicer.

That's the one thing I dont like about mine. Should have gone with the his-rise. Smart decision on your part.

Thanks-the only bad part is. It won't fit in the garage with the topper on. It just barely slipped in without. Luckily, it's not often I have to get the whole truck in there.

I just got an MX. I checked it today at the car wash. I cleared the 7 ft bar at the entrance by about 2 inches. I also cleared my garage door manual pull rope by the same amount, and it measured right at 7 ft. I hope that helps. Stock truck.

Perfect info. 100 points to you. My MX is in for the past week. Cant get wife and truck there during the day. Made an appointment for Monday, hard as hell to do things M-F if you work and wifes 88 year old mother moves in .

Thanks! I've done pretty good with the stock Michelins in the snow the last couple years. No complaints through most of PA, unless ice out, then there's no good solution!

My shell front slider is always open during the summer, for the dog, and I have vent sliders on both sides. So, I still get quite a bit of airflow when i roll the back window down.

LEER called today... they no longer have a mold for an 8 foot 122 like I had, so they are making me a brand new color matching 100R. I should have it in about 3 weeks.

Mine's doing the same, probably have a shop install a small strip of the clear bra material before it gets worse.
