I have been eyeballing this for a while now.
The only thing that is holding me back is. I have had shorty headers installed for me before and it took forever to find a shop that is willing to do it for an affordable price.
Last time it was for a 2012 Ford Mustang.

Most likely I will find a shop and pull the trigger on ceramic coated.

Any one has any experience with these on their 4.6 please chime in.

I have JBA short tubes on my 2002 4.7L.
I've driven 135,000 miles since they were installed and they are still kicking butt.
The rest of the exhaust system is factory pipes & muffler.

Awesome to hear that your Shorty headers are doing good for such a long period of time. Gives me hope.

I was looking to do the same but I was told the shorty wont provide any gain. The Long tube was the way to go for performance. @dirtydeeds will have the answers.

The shorty headers do improve low end power with the factory pipes & muffler, but only as much as a nice cat-back system does with factory exhaust manifolds. The only reason I installed these on my '02 was because the factory manifolds cracked, and were leaking. I would still be running a totally stock exhaust system if not for the leak.

Shorty headers improve throttle response and a nice low end. Also improved sound I am sure. But over all not much more over factory. Long headers are too loud for my taste and improve your top speed. This is my understanding from last time I had headers installed. I could be wrong here.

It depends how they are made shorties normal loses low end torque because of the bigger primaries but i have the dt shorties on my 5.7 and i can say more low end torque more mide range and more top end. It could be because i have lots of mods so its all about the package. Doug thorley have the tri-y and to me seems like it make gobs of torque and for a truck you need that. The factory manifolds are pretty restrictive people say oh we already have shorties wrong they are a semi tri-y and any shorties headers or LT will be a big benefit. The jba shorties for the 4.6 i think gains 15hp i think its a good mod.
