I did 50x120 (should’ve done 140’) with 16’ ceilings. I built a 1,000 sq. ft. second floor. There are roughly 100 fluorescent lights (daylight bulbs) and 26 LED canopy lights (daylight also). 18 ceiling fans. 14,000lb four post, extended length BendPak lift with rolling bridge jacks getting ready to be installed. Satellite TV with multiple tv’s. 1/2 bath. It’s still in the finishing stages if I can ever get away from work long enough to work on it. Lol. One day..............

......and at the opposite end of the spectrum from that ^^^ is my garage! It's old, it's small, it's dark, and it's a mess most of the time. Believe it or not, this is where I put my new suspension on my truck.

My two car garage is my shop, so I don’t keep the cars in it. upload_2019-8-12_21-52-48.jpg
Summer and winter in New England can be brutal, so insulation is key. To the OP, standing on an uninsulated concrete slab for 8 hrs in 20° can be tough. It’s always more cost effective to design and build a new structure, but if you’re working with what you’ve got, spend the time on making it comfortable and water tight. I don’t agree with putting OSB on the inside, it makes it harder to do changes and to cut in outlets etc (I know it’s tempting to think lining the walls with OSB makes it easier to hang stuff). As far as storage goes, the best and neatest kind is the one that’s easiest to use. Try to refrain from stacking a bunch of bins above the garage door- the garage won’t be so neat if you have to get out a ladder to put something away.
My garage/ shop has storage made out of a client’s kitchen that I tore apart 15 years ago.

Wow! Great job with all the garages, projects, and toys! I can certainly relate to the comments about cold... I've spent many a day/night trying to turn screws and nuts with fingers so cold you can't even feel them. At least we don't have anything poison to worry about. I'm going to have to seriously plan my garage build and get it started as soon as I can.

Thanks for the contributions and updates! Please keep them coming!

I admire you for your toughness :) Wise choice building a garage! Make it tall enough, if you can, so you can fit a lift.

Same. That might be bigger than my entire piece of property. In fact, I’m quite sure it is. One of the downsides of living on a 40 mile wide island...
