    Hello all,

Bought my Tundra a couple months ago, steering wheel controls for the stereo just stopped working. No lights off or other non-working things so I dont think its a fuse.

    Any ideas?

Not much info on the web about this.

    Thanks,
    Brian

My money is on the clock spring. That is the one problem I had with my truck. One day I realized my horn wasn’t working. I think everything else was working. From my understanding you can you lose control of everything on the steering wheel, or bits and pieces depending on how bad the clock spring is. Mine somehow bird nested itself. There is a write up here about how to replace it yourself.

Horn works. Only thing that quit was the stereo controls. Stock head unit.

I wouldn’t know how to give you a definitive answer but I wouldn’t rule out the clock spring. My stereo still worked but my horn didn’t. There is a ribbon of wires

My apologies brining up an old thread. If this has been resolved, what was the issue?

Did the preset buttons on your actual stereo unit not work as well? I can’t press the XM button or radio button to swap sources. The only thing that works is the mode button on the steering wheel. Once I have swapped sources, non of the preset buttons I have configured work when trying to change the station. I have to manually turn the tube knob.

The stereo worked for me. It was just the steering wheel controls that stopped working. If your stereo unit controls are not working that might be something else. If it is a stock radio I would suggest getting an aftermarket option to replace it and see if that fixes it.

FYI - I found the issue. The push to talk button was stuck in the depressed position on my steering wheel. This prevented my radio and related on controls on the steering wheel from working properly. Just a wiggle released the button and everything is functional again.
