Welcome from WI. The biggest difference is the sidewall. The 4S's are severe snow rated but only select sizes of the XLT have the severe snow rating. Also, the majority of the 4S's are P metric sizes whereas most of the XLT's are LT sizes so they are heavier.

I bought the AT3 (not the xlt) in 2014 to put on my new 4Runner Trail Edition. I took them back to Discount Tire after about 4 days of driving on them because when they were cold in the morning they would make my steering wheel wobble and I knew it took a lot of weight to balance them as well. I figured it might just get worse so I dumped them. At the time I bought them, everyone was raving about them. They were nice and smooth once they warmed up, but I could not handle that. YMMV. I am reluctant to try Cooper tires again. It was really just one bad tire for the most part, but Discount Tire did not stock them so I would have had to special order another and my hunch from all the weights to balance even the good ones were that the quality control was lacking.

Mine need to be balanced again. I'm going to take them to a new shop this month to get that done.

Mine shake a little when cold, and around 65mph.

I'll admit that the tire shop that mounted them was nothing short of incompetent though.

No issues with my XLT's yet. About two months, 2k miles. Still smooth and quiet.

I may give them another shot, but I want to deal with someone who stocks them so that if I get a bad one they can quickly replace it. They were super smooth and soft riding when warm.

No problems with my XLT's either. I'm at just over 3 months and about 4000 miles.

I have about 6 months on a set of AT3-4S. I went for the 4S for the better siping and snow rating. Love that I can run them all year long here just north of Toronto.

They have no noticeable noise, run great on the highway, no squirming or loose feeling on the steering wheel. Also stick like glue in the rain. I’m really trying to think of a negative and I can’t.

Oh, you do have to rotate them every 5-7k due to the aggressive tread pattern.

Awesome purchase and would do it again.

I got these cause all the good reviews actually. So i gave them a chance. So the tire store will be shipping all four new tires next week hopefully their all good. Or else i will need to switch to a different brand or model of tire

Mine ran nice and smooth for the first 75 miles or so of street and highway driving, and then they went badly out of balance. I guess one or more weights fell off. I had them rotated and balanced again, and so far they’re relatively smooth after about 3000 miles or so.

It’s been my experience that heavier and larger than stock all-terrains and mud terrains are harder to balance regardless of brand. The bigger and heavier they are, and the more aggressive the tread, the harder it seems to get it right.

15k miles on them and really liking mine so far! Don’t quite clear the snow out as well as I’d like but for 90% of what I do they’re perfect!

Still liking the tires on the work truck?

I have to do something with my situation with the snow and traction. The Michelin AT2's just do not cut it.

Is there a leveling kit on your work truck?

Installed in early June, about 2500 miles, so far so good. Great ride and quiet. Recently had at beach in some long stretches of deep loose sand; had no problems. They will not see much snow if any, maybe some icy conditions. They replaced some similar Continentals that had gotten very loud after about 30k miles.

It does have a leveling kit, new Torsion bar keys that allow the front end to be raised. Then of coarse front end realigned. Ride is marginally stiffer than stock.

I believe they are Pro Comp.

I thought it might have a leveling kit.

265 or did you go up to 285’s?

Thanks for the review. Most of the guys I know have gone to these tires with good results.

So far, about 1900 miles on my XLTs. No shaking or anything negative to say about the ride feel cold vs. warmed up. Hope to have them in some snow this winter, planing a vacation during the school XMAS~NYD closure (if you want every holiday off, work at a school), still working on the where though. That was why I chose them over the 4s, the 3peak on them. Still can't get over how they sound like a passenger car tire at highway speeds; I can lower the rear window and open the moon roof and the only annoyance is the wind noise. I had to talk over the BFGs on my last truck with all the windows rolled up, and despite all the rotations and re-balancing, they always seemed to end up doing the WOOP-WOOP-WOOP sound like they had a flat spot or something, once they had some mileage on them. If these tires don't end up doing that down the road I will be thrilled.

Odd that some here are having 'out-of-round' or balancing issues on Coopers. I wonder how much is the tire and how much is the quality of the wheel balance and other things like the wheel alignment... I had bought mine from America's Tire, the one I went to had good reviews, but I never had done business with them before so was nervously watching through the glass as they worked on my truck. I normally go to a family owned shop in the West Valley (L.A. County), Hank's tire. Been going there since the late 80s when Hank ran it (RIP Hank) and they always did a good job but they don't have the Coopers so stepped out of my comfort zone going to America's Tire.

Our Tundra came with 265 70 R18 ATS 4S, if the truck sits in one place for a long period of time the first few miles the tires are a little bit thumpy but they do smooth out and run exceptionally well on our curvy county roads. I've always liked Cooper tires and I'm extremely happy to have them on our Tundra.

275-70-18. There is another thread around here where someone had bought them and posted that they contacted Cooper for clarification as to why some sizes have them and others don't for the same model tire, and mentioned that size had them. Answer was, Cooper is testing and certifying more sizes as they go so not all sizes of any one tire model may have it. I've been in some serious snow in the past where the CHP was enforcing chains for most but let me go without because my truck was a 4x4 with BFGs that were 3peak rated. So I always look for that.

I got these tires today in 275 70 18. I can reaffirm that this size is in fact 3 peak rated.

What size did you go with? Looks great. Thinking of these to replace KO2s in 285/65/20, but a little bummed they are not severe weather rated. Also looking at 295/60/20. Thought about the Falken AT but sweet Lord those are heavy ass tires!

I have yet to find a lighter tire in these sizes. I think the Yokohama Geolandar is the same weight from when I was doing research.
