Hello, this is my first thread. I bought a 2017 tundra crewmax pro last month. I'm kinda disappointed in performance. I had a 2007 double cab , it was the best running truck I ever had. My new truck has the same engine, gears and transmition and doesn't run as good. The only thing that's different is my 2017 has dual exhaust. It seems like it has less torque. Could I be losing bottom end because of that?

One issue is that the programming is different to eliminate the "touchy" throttle that the '07 had. I don't think the dual exhaust has a huge affect. But, if I remember correctly, Keith at Dirty Deeds did say our trucks perform better with the single exhaust. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember.

By doesn't run as good, do you mean it just doesn't feel as snappy? Just like @16tunterd said, the truck still has the same power, but the ECU is programmed a bit different so you just need to push the pedal down more.

For comparison purposes, try pressing the tow/haul button, it may give you back that missed snappy feeling. I wouldn't drive with it like that all the time, but just to show you it's still there.

Your truck will take around 4 weeks for it to "learn" your driving style.

I did put it in tow haul and your right it does run more like my 07. It does only have 1100 miles, so maybe the computer will adjust.
Another thing I noticed was less back pressure when I hit the brakes going down hill. When it down shifts and tachs to like 2800 or 3000 I still find myself hitting the brakes, in my old truck it seemed to slow me down enough. I thought that might be the exhaust also.

You can always manually shift down when going downhill.

The one thing I have learned about my tundra is that it is not a 0-60 mph truck. It is a 30-80 mph truck. Seems to perform best from a rolling start and at 30 mph it is a torque monster with it floored. I have a heavy foot and love the sound of my pros exhaust with it all the way down.

We might as well mention that there are tuners too. Bully Dog and Hypertech.
