I purchased this at Amazon for my 85lb lab. Works great fro him on my decked system.

Ah, yeah that's not going to be an option for me. Need something heavy the dog can move back and forth on. Maybe I'll just have the top Rhino lined too.

Yeah you need something. I’m in Cali and before the shell came , the Decked
system gets extremely hot in the sun...enough to burn paws.

Not trying to be a dXXX, but because of the height of the decked unit and what it leaves in bed wall height, there is no way anything alive should ride in the back of the truck after installing a decked unit. Simple physics says it is an accident waiting to happen.

I have spent years transporting dogs in vehicles and currently my two go everywhere wearing a harness and seat belted in.

Yeah, I've been kicking around that issue as well and going back and forth on whether or not to even purchase this system because of it.

We do not make a rubber mat for the top of the DECKED system. You could find a rubber bed mat online, there are tons of options, and cut around the ammo can lids. My dog loves riding in the back with the DECKED system, as she can see everything, but your pooch will need to be disciplined enough to not jump out of the bed.

AGREED. My lab rides in the back seat with a crash rated safety harness on. Check out Sleepypod if you haven't already. They make great harnesses.

I'm pretty shocked a vendor is endorsing unsafe transport of animals while using their product.

Its funny, I have no real need or use for something like this but it's so cool and seems to be so well built and thought out that I almost want one anyway!

If I was an overlander, camper or tradesman this would be one of the first things I would buy for my truck.

Please do not turn this thread or forum into a PC police hangout. The “vendor” never endorsed anything. They make an amazing product that is a solution for certain people and their trucks. That’s it.

They as a company have nothing to do with what individuals, including employees at said company, do with that product.

Maybe their dog is a well trained Belgian sitting in the back going three MPH in a parade. Maybe they go 150 with a super charger. Maybe they HALO jump out of aircraft and land on a decked system while its moving in a movie featuring the Rock.

If the comments were about loading 3000+ pounds on top of the system or tying things down unsafely I'm sure people would be making similar comments on inappropriate use.

Vendors, and their representatives, have the responsibility of ensuring products are used as intended. Employees at most all companies also sign agreements on code of conduct and how they're representing the company in public places/forums especially when they're authorized to be the voice of the company.

My comment was not about being "PC" it was about being responsible. Would you think it's ok for a company selling steel bumpers with bull bars to say how fun it is to ride on the bumper holding on to the bar while someone is driving?

All valid points. Sadly, humans are gonna human. I mean remember the super soaker water gun fiasco? Or tide pods? Or vaping (oh wait, still current) The list is endless.

How much sagging have you all experienced after the installation? If any at all?

Well I forgot to measure before I put the shell on but I don’t remember it being a ton. With the shell , decked, and all decked full of stuff it’s almost 1 3/4”.
Of course it’ll depend on what you put in it. I don’t remember it being any noticeable sag when it was dry weight and no shell.

I ended up installing air bags. I have the decked system and a Leitner Designs Active Cargo System with three gear pods and four rotopax. SO yes, there was sag for sure. But with the air bags, it is totally irrelevant now no matter what I have or tow.

FYA Backcountry.com is a Decked dealer and offering 20% off one full priced item right now. I put one in my cart to make sure they are included in the sale. You still have to pay shipping, but the code is TAKE20WINTER. All models may not be available, but it looks like a good deal for the right person.

@DECKEDUSA, I really wanted my ARB compressor to come with me. So a drill and some time resolved that issue. Now it fits perfectly. Much like you do in my life.

If you need assistance just PM me. It took a few minutes to figure out how to position the compressor to get the lid to close. But that was the hardest part. You will need some nuts and bolts and washers and that’s it.
