Here's what controller I use.IMG_20190710_213029.jpgI drive 4 steel T post with insulators on the corners then use fiberglass poles in-between to support the cable. I use the poly stranded cable so I can roll it up after harvest so it can be reused. I set the Cable at 6" off the ground then around 12" then 24" 36" and around 48" this takes care of the coon and deer. Since I have been doing this nothing gets in.:D

    Here is what I use.

Thanks for posting the info! How hard is it to setup/take down? Reason being - If I keep mine up all year I'll need to open up sections to get into the garden almost daily and then open up larger sections for tilling.

It's not to bad I use either the 3 point on my tractor or the front end loader to pull the T post because they can be a little rough to pull. You can also buy stuff that will let you make openings easily. they make insulators with hooks that you can just hook to the t-post to remove the wire so you can have an opening to get in.

The garlic harvest was decent this year. Our wet spring rotted a few heads in the ground but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

I had a micro burst storm come thru today and do some damage to a few plants. Ripped some branches off my tomato plants and nearly uprooted my zucchini. I did pick 3 or 4 cucumbers, 2 jalapeno, and a handful of cherry tomatoes today though

Anybody know about roses? I'm trying to save mine. I just bought this house and I'm not good with plants. Along the side of my house there are about 8 tall, mature rose bushes in a row. Need some advice.

    I've noticed:
Two on one end seemed most affected at first, getting holes in leaves and Rose's quickly wilting, within the same day as they open.

After a week they were all affected, the smaller ones more than the larger.

I've inspected them closely and found a number of critters in there. Some look like aphids, but not in big numbers and they're hard to find. Some look similar to beetles, very small and hanging out in the rose buds, picture below. Some look like ladybugs but small and black. I know I had a snail problem because there was a colony of them in nearby ferns, I ripped all those ferns out 3 weeks ago and haven't seen a snail trail since.

Also noted on two bushes there has been some white fungus under the buds, usually just an inch or so down the stalk.

It has been 90 degrees and up lately so I'm afraid to use any pesticides, all the ones I looked at say not to use in hot weather.

The lil bastards look like this
    20190714_175310.jpg

While I'm in here, anybody know what the hell this is? I ripped out a lot of ivy and this shark egg looking shit is everywhere.

I use Bayer spray and also pellets on my roses. The pellets also have fertilizer in them. The spray is nice to use because it works right away, the pellets have to be watered in and eventually offer systemic protection against bugs and fungus. They also make a concentrated solution you dilute and water in instead of the pellets/granules, I used that too with good luck, I got a deal on the granules this time so I got those instead. I have had better luck with bayer than any other brand

That root almost looks like a bunch of acorns started sprouting roots. I have no clue what it could be otherwise.

You can buy a tub of 1,000 ladybugs at most nursery’s, they’ll eat the shit outta aphids and cure that problem. You’ll wanna mist em daily to provide water so they stick around. May want multiple tubs of them...

Thanks @Pudge I'll try that stuff out. Pellets are probably better in this weather than the tropical solutions I kept looking at.

@Jrharvey02 I've read about people getting lady bugs but they don't seem to stay around. If they're as cheap as crickets maybe I'll try, thanks.

If you mist them everyday with water they’ll stick around. Bugs just need food and water, aphids will supply food, you supply them water and problem solved. I had a huge infestation of aphids in a giant bush last year. Bought a few thousand lady bugs and a couple months later, aphids are gone. I still have a ton of ladybugs hanging around my garden too. It’s like $10 for 1000 of em, they’ll control tons of pests.

Cardinals were ripping me off, so I responded with bird netting.
Now I have Blueberries... the cat happens to ignore birds, but he likes Chipmunks.

The blueberries look great and the bird netting is a must! The one downfall to netting is that IF birds do get in they typically can't get out. I found a dead mourning dove wrapped up in my netting the other day.

After letting the onions dry in the garden for a few days I had to get them under cover since rain was moving in. They'll sit here for about a week to let the tops dry up. They a couple more weeks once the tops are removed. I then store them in mesh bags in the basement. Should last us all year! They are a little on the small side this year but I was happy given the rain and flooding the garden has dealt with this year.

Netting is a death trap for many things.
I draped it over the bushes like an umbrella - the bottom is wide open for easy escape.

Lay a section of chicken wire flat on the ground in front of, and flush against the upright wire you have.
They usually give up trying to dig down through the wire.
