I’m getting two different torque recommendations for the oil drain plug. One article says 22 ft pounds and the other says 30 foot pounds. In the middle of the oil change now and would like clarification on all torque values if you guys could help out.

    Thanks

30 ft/lbs is correct. As far as the stuck gasket, a razor blade scraper should pop out off.

These are the torque specs I use :

    Drain plug bolt: 30 ft/lbs
    Filter housing: 18 ft/lbs
    Filter drain plug: 9 ft/lbs

Though I switched my oil pan drain out with a valve so I don't worry about that part any more

As for the stuck drain plug gasket maybe a thin metal spatula or razor blade to pry it apart.

    Good luck!

Is that the right size for the drain?

Thank you sir for the quick tip. Didn’t have a scraper but did have a razor knife and it came right off. I guess it’s somehow like that from the factory. Thanks again so much! Now on to the oil change again.

I'm probably a little late but...
21 ft/lbs for the skid plate bolts and
    48 in/lbs on the screws

Got it all done. Had a get together to go to so all that’s left to do is check oil level is good and reset the maintenance light. All this is new to me but thank you guys for all the help. I’m gonna do some more reading about all of this once I get back home.

Nice job! 8 quarts should get you right where you need to be. Remember to check the level when the truck is warm. Get it up to operating temp, shut it off and let it sit for about 5 minutes and then check the level.

Not that is getting a little OCD. Torque is not critical on those bolts.

Is there a source somewhere online where we can purchase something that has all of the torque specs for our trucks?

Haynes and Chilton manuals include torque specs. Both are available as a paper manual and Haynes has an online version.

Worked great and I changed filter cap to metal.
Oh yeah, was tired of having a dirty funnel every time so repurposed the gloves to keep it clean for next use.
