    So big coincidence; yesterday I completed a company web based safety course - topic Power Tools. Although "Buffers" were not included, other portable rotating machinery were like portable grinders which are very similar. I do not remember beards being mentioned as a possible hazard but loose clothing, jewelry, and long hair were. I may share with my Safety Dept and suggest adding to the training.

    This is also a great safety topic for work and/or morning tailgate sessions.

    Instead of cutting i would have removed the backing pad then slide the beard from shaft. Also he lost his ear buds in the beard.

    I had a friend loose a finger while using a buffer. He had a rag in one had and the buffer caught the rag and twisted his finger right off. That was about 15 years ago and to this day I have always remembered to keep my free hand empty when running any sort of power / rotary tool.
