i have had the diamondback on the back of my 17 tundra for nearly 2 yrs. I absolutely love the looks but I do get water in bed and the locking rods rattle like crazy just below the handles. Anyone have a fix? So aggravating I can’t drive with windows down.....I’ve called diamondback and they are stumped. I have replaced the o rings but did not solve issue....I have thought about removing handle and spraying all metal parts with plasti dip.

I had some rattling as well. Mad sure the locking rods were snug. I think the remaining rattle is primarily the safety catch on the front panel on the driver side. It rattles a little bit but it’s pretty good now.

Can you cut some vacuum line long ways and wrap the locking bars with it? Or is it rattling in the latch mechanism?

If you haven't done so already, reach out to Diamondback. They are very helpful and can probably help you.

Those are two problems I dont want to have with a tonneau cover, especially at that price point. Always regretted getting the Undercover Lux instead of one of the Diamondback, until maybe now. Sucks you're having these problems and I hope you find a fix bud.

Unfortunately without being there in person it's hard to figure out what would be the rattles. Mine doesn't make any sound - my locking rods are solid up under the cargo rails, I have to push down to get them to lock. I did have 2 of the clamps loosen off, I'm currently trying to keep all 4 tightened equally so it doesn't happen again, but if it does I'll just grab a nut from a hardware store to go on top to prevent the bolt backing out. As for the water, mine is watertight just the only problem is the truck bed itself isn't watertight. So there's a tiny dribble from the front corners of the bed and the tailgate leaks a ton, even with some rubber p-tube to help reduce it.

If the safety latch is rattling, make sure you have a grommet in the bottom hole that goes through the pin that attaches to the gas cylinder. If that's in place, call DB customer service, they're very helpful.

As others have mentioned, make sure the locking rods are snug. I used an ammo can, about 20lbs, on top of the cover and then tightened the locking rods' bracket so that it was snug under the bed rail. This means you'll have to push down on the lid to get the rods under the bed rails to lock. You shouldn't hear any rattling if done properly unless there's something else going on.

This is what I did. I put some weight up top to keep those handles snug. I’ve taken mine off and put it back on at least 3 or 4 times already the 9 or 10 months I’ve owned it so far. Luckily, I haven’t had any rattles or leaking.

I usually use whatever I can find as far as weighing the panels down a bit to keep the handles snug. First time I used my son, who was a 50-55 lb 5-year old at the time, to sit on the panels, but that turned out to be a bit too much weight and required me to really push down or stand on the panels to get them to open. I’ve since used an old car battery, a toolbox full of tools, and even a 35 lb dumbbell to weigh down the panels for reinstallation. I put the weight on the panel corners when adjusting each corner.

Also, I took off that front bulkhead strip they provide. The front panel wouldn’t close snugly with it on.

Mine stays relatively dry, with some minor water intrusion around the tailgate area only when I run it through one of those no-touch car washes. It remains dry as a desert when it rains, though.

Curious, though, did yours (OP) begin to rattle and leak after a period of time, or was it always like that since when you first installed it?

No rattles or leaking with mine. I've had it on for almost 2 years. Sounds perhaps like you don't have the locking rods completely tight, or the cover isn't sitting tight enough to seal to the bed.

Still working on my rattles. Probably doesn't help I have a Crewman with the roll down rear window.

Has anyone got a remedy to share? Was thinking maybe the rods might need to be weighted down somehow? Most of my rattle is the mechanism that holds the locking rods.

Reached out to Diamondback and they are at a loss. Still working on the fine tuning used weights on each corner and that has helped. Thanks for the suggestion.

The rattling is coming from the handle and safety catch. What have folks used to minimize the catch rattle? I tried a rubber washer but it's too think..

the rod should be tight when the lid is lock, I don't know how you get rattle from the lock.
Did you put 80 lbs on each corner to push the cover down and crawl under the cover to tighten the latch???
