I think each person makes a decision based on the needs of their lifestyle, work, hobbies, families and budget. To each, their own.

This forum is different than other forums I've joined in the past with other cars. What annoyed me in the other forums were people fighting, criticizing each other and just being downright nasty. I'm relatively new to this forum myself, but just want to help preserve and maintain the positive atmosphere built by the "old timers" and moderators.

I stopped at Walmart once on my home from surfing and didn't want to leave my board in the bed. I folded the passenger seat all the way back, rolled down the back window and slid the entire 8'6" board in the cab with no problem. Probably could fit up to a 9' board that way.

That'd be cool if they use that in a Tundra advert.

No it's 6" of cab for 18" of bed...5 ft vs 6.5 ft.

If you don't need a truck then buy a 4 runner.

Not sure what you're saying, but what I was saying was, if they made a 6" bed, that probably would be the most popular length. To me the CM is too large and wasting space, it would be large enough still if it were 6" shorter and the bed 6" longer. Same with the DC, I wouldn't mind if there was 6" more of legroom in the back seats. But either way, everyone has their reasons for buying what they bought, I'm not sure why you're so bothered by other people's decisions.

I chose the DC even with a family because it's what I wanted. It had nothing to do with the extra money. I agree that the CM looks awesome and the rear window is amazing. I chose the DC because I thought the rear seats are plenty big enough and I wanted the bigger bed to haul stuff without needing a trailer. I also plan on getting a soft topper one day and sleeping in the back during camping trips. Neither config is better than the other in my opinion.

It's an 8'. I saw it when I bought my truck in my hometown. It's freaking massive.

Toby, I finished dipping my grille, I'm ready for techstream. Tomorrow I'm going to search for my old 32 bit laptop... if I still have it.

Good luck, you can always attempt the 64 install, I'm not sure how difficult it is though. If the instructions are detailed enough you should be able to figure it out. I would have looked into it if I didn't have my netbook.

If I can't find my old laptop, I think I might just order the one Chuck got. It was like $50 and works on 64bit. I can't risk going crazy if it doesn't work.

All good points here! It all depends on what your needs are and what YOU want.
If you haul a lot of stuff in the bed, how many people you tote around.

Speak for yourself. I constantly get complements on my "ugly" DC. Try putting a full size camper on a 5.5ft bed. I personally have no use for the extra cab space. The DC rear seats aren't exactly tiny. Everyone has their personal preferences. Has more to do with what is most practical for your use. Has nothing to do with being cheap. If Toyota offered more bed length/cab combo options this thread would be pretty much moot. Keep in mind that many Tundras are used daily as work trucks in construction for example. That 6.5ft bed starts looking real good not to mention the 8ft when hauling tools and materials. Some of us use our Tundras for other things besides looking good while mall crawling and cruising the 101 at 10mph during rush hour. heh... heh :infantry:

Don’t know about some folks, but when they turned 16, they bought their own vehicles. My dog puts his head out the sliding rear window ;-) we don’t let our dog poke his head out the window after a pebble just missed his eye.

rear facing car seats eat into the front passengers seat space in a DC but in a cm they dont come even close.

the short bed has never been an issue and if extra length is needed a quick uhaul trailer rental is a mile away to drag all kinds of crap.

I agree, but if you don’t have car seats......
