Any of you been keeping up on the rear seat delete? So far it’s only for 2nd gen CM but, for high speed overlanding, looks like a great way to secure gear over whoops.

Post #26. For some reason my link isn’t specific.

And keep puppies comfy :boink: @papasmurf . I know several of you SGU and BAsTRDs @831Tun (?) have removed seats, or would if there was a clean option that works....

GG makes some good platforms but they were too pricey for me and didn't look like they were easy to clean around/under so I made my own a few months ago..

    https://www.instagram.com/p/Bums4PshaP_/

Mine allows me to store gear under it still and I also have the ESP floor storage kit there that's accessible.

Looks like a tow strap. You want a snatch strap for most recoveries. But don't want to use a snatch strap to tow. Having both is best.

So a snatch strap is to get some one unstuck and a tow strap for example some one breaks down and needs to get towed in to camp?

and get that rope damper while you at it. nothing like snapping a snatch strap and have it fly back at you...

    Correct.

Snatch straps have some stretch to them so you can have a "tug" to the pull. Versus tow strap which doesn't handle "tugs" well.

I wish I'd gotten a nice snatch rope instead of a snatch strap, but that's just me. The hitch thingy is cool and probably better but you could save yourself some coin and just use the pin. And, like Joon said, you kinda need both snatch and tow.

Yep. @TheBeast is right too, you need a damper but you can use just about anything, moving blanket, whatever ya got

When someone is really really stuck, like say in deep mud. The pulling truck needs a running start. With a snatch strap, the truck pulling gets a good running start, stretch the snatch strap, and the kinetic energy will help pull out the stuck vehicle like a rubber band. If you only have a tow strap, and you try a running start, it can pull your bumper off and it'll jolt real bad and feel like the end of the world. If you start pulling with no slack, you won't get enough force, especially if you're on loose ground. And if you have a broke truck you need to tow a good distance, using a snatch strap will stretch it out and pretty much destroy it. I lost one like that.

The Coxey Trail (3N14) and Butler Peak would be some of the easier trails to do. Most of the ones that come to mind around Big Bear are better left to 4WD trucks. I have detailed pictures and routes for some of the trails around Big Bear on my blog if you're interested. But at some of them like John Bull you can sit and watch trucks go through gatekeeper obstacles.

Is that why my friends tell me to lay over the rope?

Holcomb Valley Road (3N16) is a very easy, fun, long drive. 2wd friendly.
    https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/1049-3n16-holcomb-valley

Do not confuse it with Holcomb Creek which is not so friendly lol.
