    That's what I'm worried about. I love my tundra but don't want to be stuck with the smallest trailer and lose out on jobs because of it.

    Looking to get a WDH with sway control, looking at the Fastway E2 2 point 600/6000. Trailer only weighs 3100 dry and max is supposedly only around 5k. I’m going to take it to the scale and verify. Anyone have this hitch and does it perform well? Truck didn’t even know the thing was back there just on a ball, but I need the sway control for sure.

    One of our trailers, enclosed Workshop. We call it the shack. Sits right around 6,500 lb.

    The coach Builder +3s seem to make a big difference in ride when towing

    I've towed using this before (about 10 hours round trip). It performed very well on approx. 20' trailer weighing about 3200#. No issues and barely felt it behind me. I liked the set up. (Tow vehicle '14 CM). Trailer looks in good shape.

    I had the square bar version in 6k when I had my smaller camper, but now have the 10k version for my bigger one.

    Fastway e2 square bar:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0071L3T3G/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_Xa8oDbZK4D48H

    I have no complaints. I did add the pads to quiet the bars down

    Hitch Pads:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007HRJNIE/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_Rd8oDbFZ4MEWQ

    I also transferred these to the new hitch. I don't see any adverse effects other than the hitch is a lot quieter.

    I am still dialing in the bigger hitch it has no sway, truck just seems to float at times. Could be the narrow roads or the rv length + weight. I did just get the extended shank (6" longer) to allow the tailgate open when hitched and this changed the alignment a little bit (dropped 3/4").

    I really wish I had a CAT scale closer to me.

    I have a Fastway E2 and really like it. I will be using it on Monday after not needing it for about a year.

    Mine is the 1200 lb one, but function the same. Lots of adjustability in these LDH.

    Thanks for all the input guys! @legger99 , what shank did you go with? The tongue on this trailer is pretty short and I’d like to not have to worry about cranking the trailer into my tailgate and bumper. Is it the Curt 10” long extended shank or 15”?

    I purchased this shank: https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories_and_Parts/Equal~i~zer/EQ90-02-4500.html

    My RV has the lippert electric tongue jack and this allows the tailgate to drop and a little extra room between truck and camper as mine also has a short tongue because the body protrudes forward.

    And had to purchase these for chain extensions: https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories_and_Parts/Blue_Ox/BX229-0512.html

    They were the only ones I could find that were rated for 10k, my trailer GVWR is 8200, 6700 empty. and I didn't want to mess with extending the trailers chains.

    The trailer harness and breakaway cable reached fine (another thing to consider).

    I will also say I have LT Michelin Defenders and added the TRD sway bar and didn't tow this trailer without them. My old trailer was about 4000 lbs and I didn't really use much WDS, but more for sway as that camper was single axle and moved around.

    I ended up with a Big Tex 12 foot, 9990 gross dump trailer, filled with 3 tons of gravel, the tundra does a good job of towing it. Here in Virginia the state is getting anal about 1/2 ton pickup towing over 10,000 lbs. I already had Air Lift bags, but if you don't have them, you will need them to end the squat.

    With everyone on here that pulls travel trailers, what are you all running for tires on your trailers? I’m wanting to avoid “china bombs” and have the least likelihood for a blowout. On the trailer now is 205/75/r15.

    I would not run a car tire on your trailer. They are different than trailer tires.

    I bought Tow Master tires from Costco. Read good reviews on them, and obviously Costco has excellent customer service and warranty. Goodyears are also a good tire but $$$. My dad has had a lot of problems with Dico and Carlisle tires, I would stay away. (Bubbling and catastrophic blowouts on newer, good condition tires.)

    What's going on everybody. Got a towing/weight question for all you experienced towers. I just put a deposit down on a beautiful 2013 Forrest River Shockwave 26FQDX for our first trailer. I have a 2014 CrewMax 4x2 5.7 with the 5.5 bed tow package and just installed brake adjuster and Firestsone bags. Will be getting a good 4 point WDH as well. I know my biggest issue is the tongue weight but I don't plan on getting close to the trailers max weight and actually plan on keeping it under 9k as much as possible and only passengers in truck during travel (No other cargo, ie clothes). With the specs I know below, am I getting over my head or what? TIA

    Truck:
    Actual weight = somewhere around 5,800
    GVWR = 7,000
    TWR = 10,000
    GCWR = 16,000

    Trailer:
    Dry weight 7,219 (Posted on label, I know will be more) 100 gal water @ 833 pound (IF* if filled it all the way up)
    GVWR = 11,550 ( I plan on being around 9,000-9,500 max)
    Tongue weight = ??? (I can't get an official one or idea anywhere. 10-15% right???

    Tongue weight will be 1100 lbs plus probably. Seems like too much trailer honestly

    We upgraded from a 2017 Tacoma 4x2 to a 2018 Tundra 5.7L after towing our new MicroMinnie on our first camping trip. The Taco would tow it but it struggled too much for my taste. Got the Tundra 2 weeks later. LOVE em both!
