Oh wow. Hospital staff has it hard and I understand shift work. I’ve been there and often take 15 min power naps in the parking lot before I drive home.
Having dedicated sleep time and a family that is 100% all in to support that position is the only way one makes it.

Tough situation, but it’s still not an excuse.

I understand that working the oilfields my whole life. I'm not mad or anything, at least not at her, no excuses but shit happens. Insurance companies are another story. I've reached levels of anger through this that I didn't know I was capable of. I absolutely cannot stand being ignored and I hate voicemails, 2 things that insurance companies seem to excel at.

What insurance company are you dealing with if you don’t mind me asking?

State Farm is the company she is underinsured with. They cost me a little over a week dragging their feet because they knew they didn't have enough coverage. 3 days after my insurance company got involved I had an answer.

I am with you brah, felt that frustration you are working through. Be patient, don't give in easily -- and stick it to them insurance bastards. When you're feeling worn out and frustrated from all the insurance hassles crap (they will beat you down through straight-up attrition), take a break and stay a night at the Inn...the Ram-It-All Inn, to re-group and come back at 'em hard. They fight dirty to hang on to their money, doesn't matter what kind of customer you are or have been in years prior.

Hers and mine. There was a 3rd vehicle that's being repaired. Her liability limit was the Louisiana state minimum which is $25,000. The damage estimate on Tony was almost $34,000

That’s ridiculous. Here the minimum is $500K, personally I carry $5M liability. Yes, I’m comparing Canuck Pesos, but still.

Is healthcare expenses also part of that $25K? That’s gone in 24 hours VERY easily.

I have an “acquaintance” that purchased one of the very first Porsche 918 Spyder in CO. He was rear ended by someone in a 90’s Honda Accord with liability insurance. It was very minor, but the rear bumper wrap and exhaust had to be replaced. With diminished value, it was like 60k.

I learned a lot about insurance coverage on that deal and a few others. We carry 500k limits across the board. When you have cars like this running around on Colorado streets all the time, one oops could be a financial nightmare. 0E9323D2-3036-4B34-BD59-A10F9DCA035E.jpg96C9529C-8D40-4B37-A85A-36E9BBBA15A7.jpg

Just keeping you guys updated. This is the conclusion to this saga. I'm still in the game. Tony died with 31,695 miles on him, this one has a bit over 36,000 and is 4wd where Tony was 2wd. Otherwise they are pretty much the same 2018 models.

We are just glad everyone walked away, insurance did what they do, and now you can move forward.

That dash cam was a great tool. I have a really nice one just sitting on my counter at home. Need to get off my ass and install it....and purchase two more.

Thanks guys. I can't complain about the insurance settlement, I had to start with less down so I went used but very comparable truck and mileage. The insurance was fair and did their part, and aside from them taking forever I can't complain. Now to see how much my premiums rise.......

This is my 1st 4wd so I am trying to figure out things I can do now that I couldn't before besides have status and I can't come up with anything right now. I'm sure I will though, it's there and I want to use it.

I'm definitely going to name it as I do all of my vehicles. Right now he is going by "Tony 2" or simply "T2", it may stay that way or it may change and I'm fine either way. Depends on what my daughter and friends end up calling him after a little while.

I may be naive, but YOUR insurance shouldn't rise at all since you were the one that was hit. HER insurance, on the other hand, will skyrocket.

Well.....I would agree if I hadn't had to make a claim on my policy to cover me due to her being underinsured. Of course my agent is telling me there should be no change but I learned a long long time ago to not believe insurance companies.
