Hello all, I’m thinking about purchasing a TRD cold air intake and installing it myself. Wanted to see if anyone has done it and if so what are the benefits of it, is it relatively easy to do yourself. Worth the money, etc. I have done it to previous vehicles and I liked the deeper growl it gave the engine when hitting higHer RPMs.
    Thanks!

I put the TRD Cold Air Intake on in the spring. Very easy install. I don’t notice any gains. In fact I think I prefer the way it ran - especially in beast mode - when I had the stock in. I consider it a waste of money. If I had some free time I’d probably pull it out and sell it.

I have TRD dual exhaust too. And I think i actually preferred the exhaust notes before I installed the CAI.

This is new to me, are you saying go with these two options instead of installing a cold air? What do I remove from stock to make this happen and is it pretty easy to do?

CAIs in Tundras are pretty subjective but you’re gonna see more guys say to do the SABM.

I have the TRD, got it during the 40%sale. I love the sound of it and it looks cool. I hear all the noise about no gains, may be true. I seem to feel and hear difference in my but and ears and thats all that counts! It sounds badass under throttle. I probably would have waited a little while longer if not for the 40% off sale. Also have the TRD duals, also sounds good and looks great... no drone either!

I too have the trd Cai and exhaust. The Cai is a waste of money with a cool factor. But at 40% it was hard to pass by. The exhaust was worth the money.

Save your money. The stock intake is really well designed. I just did an air filter swap for the TRD filter. Thought about getting the air flow accelerator but decided against it just because I drive like an old man and wouldn't see any gains. Maybe down the road but who knows.

Many members have posted this and unless you're running a SC then you're wasting your money..... aside from the looks. You are correct that Toyota actually designed this part right and there hasn't been any sign"In numbers" of improvement over stock. Once again only the SC'd guys have reported small gains from this.

There’s hardly any feedback that shows TRD accelerators give noticeable, if any, gains. I looked into getting one myself but after research, decided against.

I did the AFE superstock system combined with trd accelerater and noticed an improvement throughout the entire rpm band. Picked it up for under $200 with a 25% off promotion they were running. MPGs went up a few ticks too.

I had the sabm and than i had the s&b intake. For me personally i would choose the s&b any day. The build quality is amazing and from the butt dyno seems to have more pep off the line than sabm and k&n drop in. And im running bullydog tune on performance.

What exactly is a SABM? I’m unfamiliar with what that requires.

Stock air box mod.. You have to cut another hole in your fender for more cold air. Its like 100 bucks or so.
