BBS Wheels Cleanup

I picked up a set of 20x9 BBS wheels off my boss, and they need some cleanup. I know I will need some new centercaps, but there is some road rash and some chips in the wheels, as well as faded paint in towards the center of the wheel. Any suggestions on how I should go about cleaning them up? I was thinking about using self etching primer and some cast aluminum paint. Any other ideas?

 

Sounds like you’re in the right track... keep us posted. I have some pretty bad gashes in my aluminum. Good thing it won’t rust!

 

I did the same thing, bought mine off craigslist for $200, had bad curb rash. I bought some putty in a tube that I bought at a hobby store and was able to fill in some of the big gashes after sanding them down. I also made sure to take the wheels off and clean the backs off and paint them as well. I originally restored them to graphite grey but I found that the satin black like mine just makes them look like a completely different wheel

 

I experimented with black plastidip on one of the wheels, really liked the look of it, amd painted the rest of them the same. Paired them with some cooper all-terrain tires. They will need some touch up from time to time but I think they look killer.
