im thinking of trading in my 2015 CM and picking this truck up to be my daily driver . I drive about 30k miles a year and want a truck that I own outright so I am not being killed with neg equity on the daily. I hate the color( and cap) but this looks extremely clean and will serve the purpose. I can also rack up some miles and hand this down to my son in 15 months when he starts driving. Right in time for the new 2021 Tundra to release!!!

What price would be a good buy? Are there any known issues with this Gen once the miles get up there?

8500 maybe. If the timing belt and water pump have been done. Sold my 1st gen with a few more miles on it than that and I didn't have a single problem with it.

I hate the color too haha. (Leveling kit, wheels and tires would make it acceptable) :D

It's probably priced about right but I agree with you. $8500 would be a good deal if the maintenance has been done.

Looks like a nice truck. Asking full retail, that down from price $11,300 is delusional. Paying less is always better. Not sure what TTL will cost you additionally.

It's close to needing its 2nd timing belt; $1k expense to have done.

I paid similar for gen 2 2007 with less miles, but I got a very good deal from individual.

If in the market I would try to get for like $9000.00 maybe up to $9500.00 if really clean. Or maybe pay their price if they do timing belt replacement.

Also, since its at a dealer, they are going to charge you BS fees and all that. So take that into consideration. Here in LA county I always keep the tax burden in mind too. The tax is nearly 10% so most people know the deal on writing a bill of sale for less money when buying private party.

Just noting some other ways of the price being affected in the end.

That used to work here, but now they tax you on the book value - no matter what you paid.

Yeah that makes sense, which I can't believe greedy CA doesn't do that. I've claimed some extremely low prices on CL purchases over the years and they never bat an eye.

I paid a low below market price for my '07, and figured the tax would be a couple hundred dollars. I was surprised when I went to buy plates, because the tax was over $1K. Non-negotiable here in Georgia.

Texas has been taxing on book value for a while now. You can still show a Bill of Sale with a low value and they will tell you the least value acceptable. My last one should have been $9500, Bill of Sale written for like $4500, Lady told me lowest acceptable was like $6600. So that is what I was taxed on.

Wow, that would suck! It is ridiculous what they tax us on, especially in secondary market. Taxes were paid on new sale of the vehicle. Every time it changes hands or is sold, more taxes are collected. There should be a limit!

The ad says RWD I think. No 4x4 needed for beach driving down there in SC?

It worked out for me when I bought my 2006. Their book value was much lower than my 1-owner 2006 DC 4x4 TRD with service history would sell for anywhere in the country.

It's even worse than that. Georgia has a title tax, so that means any time a vehicle is titled you have to pay the 7% tax. So lets say you have a fancy car that book values at $50K...when you move to Georgia and go to the DMV to register it, they hit you with a $3500 title tax. Being the kind people they are, they only make you pay 50% up front with 6 months to pay the rest....

Georgia officially on my "do not move to" list! Sounds as bad as Commifornia is getting.....

Wow! I was not aware of this rule, when did it go into effect? I hope the revenue is used to repair and upgrade our roads and interstate system.

It happened when they moved to the TAVT instead of the yearly property tax...seems like it was about 6 or 7 years ago...

Thank you... I continue to pay a yearly property tax on my 2002 and they hit me with the relatively new TAVT in 2017 when I put plates on the '07.

YO what up man, I came to look at your 2015 CM when you were selling. I ended up picking up a 06 double cab sr5 with 125k with around 25 service records. Was listed at $10k plus $700 in fees, but the dealer would not budge on the price so ended up having to pay 10 out the door. I would try to go for $8500.

dealer has dropped the price for this to 8800. they haven't seen my tundra but I told them its all stock because it will be if I trade it in. they offered me 24k( owe 28)... which I thought was a joke! I drive a ton( about 30-35k miles a year) so I expect to have some neg equity. If they can get me out the door under 11k, id do it.

Im back on the hunt for a 1st gen. Dealer around me just got a 2004 4wd limited with 144k on it. black/tan. loks to be in pretty good shape. the interior is overall good but the driver seat is really worn W/ a tear or 2. they are asking $11,500. It has 32 service records and all the of the belts and water pump was done right at 100k.

I like to try to get it for 10k otd including their 400 "closing fee" and taxes.....

    Doable?

You're in the south so it should be fine, but make sure you thoroughly inspect the frame for rust.

Passing will almost always get theme to call you within the week to say something along the lines of "I have great news, my manager says we can do 10k plus the 400 and we just finished washing your truck, its here waiting for you buddy"

I seriously hate car dealers and the way the majority do business. I told them no way Im paying 11500 for the 2004 but " that is the best they can do". A day later i get an email from their marketing dept about trucks that fit my search history and the same 2004 is now listed at 12,000... LOL.
