So my Tundra has become the family car now that we have a baby and it fits everything that comes along with that better than my wife's car. With the MO heat and humidity I was thinking of getting a remote start to cool it down as our daughter is currently in a helmet and is not supposed to be out in temps above 90. Is there a remote start system that you all recommend or have had good reviews with? Thanks for the assistance.

James Randy Taylor with Tech12volts makes the best one for our trucks.

Can’t remember his screen name here, but I’m sure someone will tag him...

I personally like 12volt.solutions for my 2018 truck. Pretty easy to install as it was 100% plug and play with YouTube videos. The vehicle does NOT turn off when the doors are opened. Even compatible with with any smartphone if the smartphone module is purchased and installed.

Looks like they make a similar version for 2010-2017.

This... tech 12 volts is completely plug and play for pre 2018 models.

I've heard nothing but good things about the offering from @james@tech12volts but have not used that one, personally. I have the 12volt.solutions remote start that's linked above and it works great. I just have the base kit for now, but I think my wife ordered me the smart phone module for Father's day and just hasn't shown up yet. There is also a long range 2 way remote kit that can help if you don't mind an extra fob.

Viper Ds4 here.. Pretty painless with the T harness. The app is worthless, but the remote is rechargeable and is 2 way.
I do prefer the Toyota confirmation beep as opposed to the Viper chirp however.. Ideally I'd just remove the siren if I wasn't so chicken... Lol

The remote doesn't look as fancy as the previous one posted here though.. And is considerably thinner.

Those of you with the Tech12Volts remote starts....I have a few questions....

What is the distance you get with the standard key fob? Is it the same distance as it would be if you were just simply locking and unlocking the truck?

Also if anyone has upgraded to the long range key fob...how far does it transmit for the truck to start? Also is it a 2-way remote that tells you that the truck started?

    Please let me know...Thanks!

Another vote for Tech12volts. James answered me on a SUNDAY when I was installing mine and was able to fix my issue in like 30 seconds! He is awesome to work with. Here is a video I did of my install of the Fortin EVO w/ mycar addon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NrGw_-WEE4g

My regular key fob will remote start in an open parking lot about 200-300 ft away. Its not even half or a quarter of that though if walls or buildings are in between

Mine took less than 30 mins, start to finish. It was super easy.

Sorry I have the 12Vsol kits. 100% plug and play.. no cutting.

Quick question, on the remote starts. Will any of them turn on the defrost/heat and seats below a certain temp or air conditioning above a certain temp? From what everyone is saying, the 12voltsolutions is only whatever the last setting is...

None that I know of will turn on the defrost or seat heaters. If you have auto climate control and leave it on about 70 and make sure you are on Auto before you turn the truck off, then once you remote start the truck will heat/cool as needed. But no defrost or seat heaters as those have to be turned on once the truck is on.

This is 100% correct. I have a 12voltsolutions remote starter. What ever a setting was at when I turn the Tundra off picks up at the same place when I remote start it.

12volt solutions remote start says it supports up to 2017 Tundras with the G key. I'm assuming this won't work for 2018+ with an H key?

They have a H key option, just requires cutting 1 wire IIRC. If you do this definitely go with tech12volts. James is super awesome and will help you even on a Sunday (ask me how I know).

I have the 12voltsolutions starter on my ‘19 and I didn’t have to cut any truck wires. I had to cut off a few wires on one of their harnesses before I plugged it in. Very simple to do. Well explained on their videos.

I have the tech 12volt and randy was very responsive and sent me out a new unit when my unit was not working correctly. Mine only starts when I lock the doors 4 times. Sometimes its three times and then it will be 4 times for awhile. Makes me a bit crazy. The range sucks....about 75 feet for me...good for when it's in my driveway awful anywhere else. That's a Toyota issue not a randy issue. If I had to do it again I would go with a compustar. Randys was very easy to install

Just get the MyCar addon to the Fortin and range issues are solved. I ordered mine from the get go with it and so glad I did. I can leave my desk at work, be walking down the stairs and start my truck so when I get to the parking garage it is nice and chill for me. Plus no aftermarket remotes, just factory ones.
