UPDATE: Icon Tundra Stages Explained

I'm not sure of the exact numbers but the rear 2.0's & 2.5's yield just over 10" of shock travel.

With a price tag of $2729.84, where would you recommend the best installation at a fair price? After talking with you at #T2S2019 I have the wife convinced if we don't get these the truck is going to explode in the front because @KevinK said it would and Lisa told Melissa that he knows his stuff! LMAO! My wife enjoyed chatting with yours and your daughters while we were talking which believe me, spared you a lot of questions.

The S2 Omega is on my radar and was from the beginning but have been trying to justify it. Keep up the great products coming!!

It was a nice meeting you and yours as well. In AZ I would recommend @sdhq_offroad . They have a ton of product knowledge and are currently the shop that has the ICON CB shock required to fit 3.0's with our K53153 like @KevinK 's truck. As you recall it was an ICON Equipped Tundra that took 1st in 2 classes and 1st Overall at the "Go Fast Friday" time trials.

I think it was also an ICON Equipped Tundra that took Fastest Overland Rig with an RTT, a Fridge, Running Water and 2 Dogs in the Cab (I have to get super specific because I think we were the only ones in that class ).

Hey @Icon_Adrian, quick question for you as I continue to plan my suspension. On your website it says the 58650 coilovers can yield a 0-3.5" ride height improvement. I'm assuming that's if they have the 700lb spring upgrade given some of the posts I have read on here? However the 58750 version with resi's can yield a 3" lift according to the website. Do these coilovers use different springs? I'm looking at the 750's with the resi's, but would love to be at the 3.5" lift. So I guess I'm just curious if these numbers are accurate, or can I get that 3.5" lift with the 750's as well? Basically I'm looking to do the stage 4 without the leaf. Thanks!

 

What height are you getting front and rear with the stage1? Not hauling or towing anything just a pavement princess. How is the on road ride quality? Really want to maintain the on road ride quality.

Spring rate doesn’t actually have anything to do with lift height. Not directly anyway. Preload on the spring is what sets the ride height.

Secondly, I’d ask what you want to achieve with 3.5” of lift vs 3.0”. If it’s looks, that’s ok, but if you’re looking for performance, you actually want to be a bit closer to 2-2.5” of lift. Less preload on the spring allows the wheel to have more down travel from ride height so it can drop down into the little drop outs but keep the truck closer to level as you drive.

I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t 75% for looks. Won’t be able to actually get it off-road consistently for a couple years, but I want to do it right from the start.

 

It’s good to be real with yourself. That’s the only way you’re gonna get what you want.

I wouldn’t worry about that extra half inch (if it even exists - I’m not sure that it might not even be a typo). For one thing, going higher than 3” typically puts you in need of a dif drop, and then you actually lose any gained ground clearance between the front wheels. 2.5-3” is a nice beefy look and also 100% functional.

Yeah for sure. Im basically going to tell the shop to level the front with the back(K37 leaf pack and CB +3 shackles), and whatever that ends up at I will be happy with. I have the diff drop kit, and ABS relocation on hand if required. July 3rd I have my appointment scheduled, looking forward to seeing how it turns out! Thanks for the advice my man.

 

I thought we were discussing 3.0's in the front and the question was asked if they were 700 lb springs

 

I am debating pulling the trigger on 2.5 cdcv with tubular delta UCA and pairing with rear 2.0 with stock leaf springs to save a bit of money. Are the 2.0's a decent step up from stock or should I hold out until I can get the 2.5 cdcv (what I really want). 2.0's seem worth a try for ~$300.

 

As much as I love Icon, I don’t know why they or any other manufacturer even offers a 2.0.

If you can hold off for a little bit, step up to any of the 2.5 for the rear - obviously adjustable is better.

 

Also, does anyone know the difference in travel between normal shocks and RXT versions? And also, do RXT shocks work with stock leaf springs? (If I want to upgrade to RXT leaf pack down the road)

 

I'd also like to know.

 

From experience the 2.0 is pointless. We just bought the RXT with CDCV to upgrade.
Don't spend your money on the 2.0s

 

IM LATE TO THE PARTY BUT DO NOT DO K37 with +3 shackles. It will f up your k37s in no time. Run the recommended shackles.

I have the RXT rears I'm going to install next week. I want to put some boots over the shock shaft. Does Icon offer any?

 

Sdhq sent me some. Not sure if they’re in the website. Just generic Takes some elbow grease to get them over the bottom eyelet.
