I recently purchased a 2016 Platinum crewmax. I've been noticing a high pitched noise very similar to a ground loop type sound in car audio coming from the passenger side. When it's occurring it seems related to the throttle. I've turned off the head unit and the climate control and it's still there. Maybe it's related to the stereo? Maybe the truck has a vacuum system that's leaking? I'm totally shooting in the dark here to see if anyone else has hit anything like this? It's fairly quiet and very high up on the sound register so not everyone hears it.

Have any of you experienced anything like this? I'll take her to Toyota soon enough but wanted to have ideas as the repro isn't 100%

What kind of intake does it have?

Factory. But I do recall I got a weird sound like that out of my 04 when I switched to a K&N cold air intake. It came with the TRD dual exhaust. Now that you mention it I better peek under the hood again and make sure they haven't messed with the factory air box. I assume you've had this same issue with a specific intake?

At this point I've had the dealership look over the OEM airbox and then swapped to a TRD intake. I've also swapped to an OEMaudio stereo. Neither of these things have made any difference. Do the late model tundra have any type of vacuum system? This sure sounds like a ground loop or a vaccum leak. Even thought I bought the Toyota extended "factory" warranty they're telling me this isn't safety related so the warranty isn't going to cover it. This seems wrong to me. This is a recently purchased Toyota Certified pre owned truck with 38K miles. Is it just me or should they be chasing this down and fixing it under warranty?

Just chiming in. My truck does this same exact thing. Haven't had the dealer look at it yet, though. Pretty sure it's a ground loop. I'm going to pull the fuse for the radio and check that way at some point.

Since you say that it’s throttle dependent, I’m thinking is the whistle from the screen in the throttle body gasket. There is gasket w/out screen from a sequoia that fits in place and eliminates the whistle.

Good to know. My truck came with a TRD drop in filter and it whistled really bad at partial throttle. This was especially annoying when I had the cruise control set on the highway. I swapped it out with a standard OEM filter and the noise got better. I tightened the clamps and now it's almost completely gone. Las thing I'll check is the throttle body gasket when I give it a cleaning.
