I didn't read all the posts but are any of you using helper springs or shackles?
Not really looking to replace the whole leaf pack on my used tundra. I have a leer cap plus about 300 lbs of stuff inside all the time, seems to have flattened my leafs out a bit.

Just got a used LEER 100XR. It's black but goes well with the MGM in my opinion.

Random question for anyone with a ARE Z Series Cap. Which way does your handle swing? My prior ARE cap handle swang down. This new one swings up. Wicked pain in my ass and awkward handling..me thinks it’s put in backwards? Or that I’m left handed and it’s less weird for rightys

well got my Leer 100XL on yesterday along with my bedslide classic... and this morning I added reflective bubble barrier and when it gets a lil cooler I will cover with interior grey headliner... I will be transporting my wife's art work to New Mexico and wanted to make sure it remained reasonably cool back there... 20190718_095815.jpg 20190719_115630.jpg 20190719_133926.jpg

Hey TamuTundra, can you let me know if the insulation makes much of a difference this time of year. I assume it would help quite a bit when it's cold but not sure when it's this hot.

    Thanks

Hey Taco-Bender, I could tell it helped later that afternoon when I went and did some ratkillin duties for the wife... I will be finishing up the interior lining first week in Aug. when we get back from Santa Fe... it has to help right? it really wasn't that hard and all it cost me was about 3 hours and about 30ish bucks.. but I will update if I see some dramatic difference in temp

In order for reflectix to work you have to have an air gap of 1/2" or more. If you glue it to the roof like that it won't be as effective, if there's a layer of air in between the shell and the material the heat will get reflected back.

This one has served me well since it was installed in '03, but the hot Georgia sun has cooked the roof section. There are deep cracks in the structure at the curved areas above the glass door and on the roof... the seals on the large fixed windows are beginning to fail. The clear coat failed a few years ago, but that's not covered under their limited lifetime warranty. I removed it and returned it to the manufacturer last week for warranty repair, or replacement. I am hoping for a new top, but repair & repaint will be fine.

Driving around cap-less after all of these years is nice, but I have to move my gear to and from a dry & safe location - that's a minor pita.

New to me 2015 ARE MX. Great condition. Picked it up Saturday for $425. Will repaint at some point. A topper is a must have for me. I like the extra size of the MX. It's also carpet lined and has optional front fold down/sliding window which is a nice add.

Have had the Leer Fiberglass tonneau on my last 3 trucks. Things stay bone dry and it locks.

It is the ever growing monster and a complete labor of love at this point lol. When I initially laid it out, it was going to be a single story 22X26 structure. Then I decided that I wanted to be able to completely open the doors of both the Tundra and 4 Runner without them hitting. Then I decided to build in some space for a nice work bench in front of the Tundra so I didn’t have to go to the barn every time I needed to grab basic tools on the way out. One thing led to another and ended up ordering attic trusses and building a full length loft up top for more storage as well. So my single story 24X28 garage turned in to a 30x38 garage with a loft. Kind of crazy and I wish it was finished now but I’m sure I’ll be happy next summer when it’s all buttoned up. It’s slow going only being able to work on it after I get home. Frustrating. Lol. Would like to take 4 or 5 weeks off and just slam it out but that’s not in the cards.

I wish I had done a heavy duty CX vs. the CX Classic I got.

Now I have no rails and no extra support up there for hauling. Should have followed my own buy-once-cry-once advice.

Well done! The one regret I have with my cap is that I did not go with the mid rise for the CM
