    Hello Ladies and Gents,

I've spent countless hours researching this forum and just when I think I've figured it all out, I read something that makes me question it all over again! haha. I currently have a 2016 Tundra with Bilstein 5100's on the top setting on the front, and 1.5" shackles on the back. I'm currently running BFG AT II 275/70/R18 on the stock TRD rims without any rubbing issues (as everyone is aware, you can usually run these with no lift).

I just purchased (but haven't yet installed) Method Mesh 18x9 wheels with 18mm offset, and I basically have 2 questions. First, will my 275/70's fit without trimming? I thought they would since most people run 295/70/R18s with this offset with only minor trimming, but I just read a thread where a member ran these 275/70's and had to trim the wheel liner. I'd really like to avoid trimming if I can (and keep the mud flaps).

Secondly, I really like the look of the wider stance of this offset, but I am a little worried about damage from road debris/rocks due to the wider stance. I think this may be mitigated a bit by the fact that I'm running a narrower tire than most with my 275/70's, but I'm still concerned. I would like to avoid damaging more paint than necessary. In retrospect, I would probably have preferred a 25mm offset, but I didn't like the wheel styles available to me in that offset.

I'm pretty sure I ran an 18mm offset on my old 2007 Tundra with 305/65/R18s without a problem, but then again I had really wide step boards that may have helped prevent damage to the paint.

I would really appreciate it if anyone has any insight to share on either of my concerns. Thanks very much for your time!

You should be fine they will stick out a tiny bit but with 275s I don’t think you’ll have anything to worry about

Best pic of mine I could find when I had 275s. These wheels are +20 offset. Hopefully this give you an idea of where you’ll end up. I have 295s now and it looks great but I think I’ll be going back to 275s next because it was a much better ride and not quite as thirsty!

Thanks for the response, Muleycrazy! So it looks like you're running at least a 2.5" level in the front? Thanks for the picture of the truck with 275's! I agree that the 295's would look good, but I don't really want to deal with the potential trimming/CMC associated with them. Did you have to do anything to make the 275/70's fit? Also, have you noted any rock damage with either sizes of tires? Thanks for your time!

The 275s I don’t recall having any damage but as you can see in the pic above, mud still flew up the side of the truck. I had to remove the front mud flaps and the little black plastic thing in front of the front tire. Other than that it was all good. If your looking to not touch a thing you may want to stick with trd wheels. 7A3AED7F-861D-48A2-AFE1-87E88E0B8302.jpgThat’s with 295s definitely some surgery making those clear and yes I’m at 2.5 inches on the Bilstein 6112s

    Muley,

Thanks for all the great info! I think I will preemptively go ahead and remove the black plastic thing on the front of the wheel well, but I'm going to try to keep the mud flaps for now. I'll report back with my progress and a photo! 295's are definitely a little more "surgery" than I'm wanting right now. haha. They look great on your rig though!

    bgdv1,

That's an awesome looking truck! When I bought my Mesh's, I didn't know the NV was available in a 25 offset, or I likely would have purchased that. When you say you removed the front flap, you mean the little plastic thing in the front of the wheel well, but I see your front mud flaps are still intact, correct? That's what I'm hoping to get away with. I've got about 1/4" difference offset than you with the Mesh's, so I think it may just be possible. Thanks for the response!

Awesome! If I can get away with keeping the mud flaps at the rear of all four wheel wells I'll be a happy camper! I'll post up some pics when they get mounted in the next several days. I'm guessing you haven't seen any problems with rocks/road debris with your 25mm offset?

18" Double Standards I ran 305x65x18 switched over to BFG KO2 35x12.50x18 I love them no rubbing at all. Just had to move the inner wheel well plastic forward. Ill be getting another set of 35 once these wear out.

So with the Method Double Standard, I'm guessing that's a 25mm offset? Sweet looking truck!

Pretty darn happy, except one TPMS sensor got broke. Still sorting that out.

Truck looks great Skey! I have the tires mounted now with no rubbing whatsoever on the stock TRD rims, but I know that going to a 18mm offset will change things for sure. Here’s a current pic. I’ll post an update once the new wheels are mounted!

I don’t know if I’m getting old or what but I think your truck looks great as is! Sometimes I wish I hadn’t done all the things I have to my truck. Anyway post pics when you get the new wheels. I think you’ll enjoy the new look!

haha. I agree with you. I was planning on leaving it the way it is. Unfortunately, the tire shop accidentally scratched up the rims when they installed the new tires and it's really bugging me now. In their defense they are now giving me a pretty nice discount on a new set of rims, but I would honestly rather keep it as is. I may powder coat the original rims and eventually put them back on. Not sure at the present.

Switching it up to Method NV’s so i can do a 25mm offset. Little less to worry about in the rock/road debris department. I will post pics as soon as I can!

When I bought my 2019 TRD Pro I switched out my stock tires with a set of Nitto Ridge Grappler 275/65R/18's and kept my TRD rims. After driving around on them for a little over 1,000 miles I decided I wanted a larger tire to fill out the wheel wells. This morning I once again replaced my tires with a set of Nitto Ridge Grappler 285/75R/18 tires on my stock TRD rims. Finally, the look Ive been going for. Next will be to add a small spacer into the mix to make the tires stick out slightly to match my fender flare. I have yet to remove the small mud flap on the front fender as there is some rubbing in reverse that Ive noticed, but not in drive while turning??? Regardless, the 285/75/18 35" Nittos really improve the trucks stance. I will upload photos later to show off the newest purchase.

ncomeau35, would love to see the pics of the 285/75's!

Chucho, great looking truck! Those look like NV's, correct? Offset looks about perfect. Exactly what I'm looking for I think.

Tires get installed next Wednesday. I'll update with some pics once they're done!

    Did you install? Post pics!

Method Mesh +18 shot rocks on the lower panel of my front doors because I had to remove flaps but I have 295's, got flares. Zoom in and you can see a rock or two ready to fly.

Thanks, my wheels are MB 352's.
I might get some different wheels when I'm due for new tires.
These has a lip on the front that do not drain. Good looking wheel but lack function.
