Being a Master Tech myself with 25+ years your theory sounds plausible but, I am going to have to call BS. When you buy a truck with 9 miles on it and the Martian spots are already on the door panel. I am willing to bet there is something else is going on. Especially when you have spots appear in areas that are not stress areas.

After reading this thread, I check my '14 and have seen some of those green spots and never paid to much attention to them. I have a few around where the pins go into the door, which I figured was my fault as I have pulled those door panels of numerous times. but there are a few that are not near any pins. I used SEM Color Coat Black spray paint (good for surfaces that expand and contract) to help cover up the blemishes.

Took mine in today for the 5k SVC. Told the SA about the spot on the door panel and asked if they have had any experience with it. He tells me they haven't seen it before. Well I kinda find that hard to believe since I have seen at least 5 used trucks move through our lot with spots on the door panels and the dealership doesn't know anything about it.
They are suppose to call me on Monday after they show the picture to the Service manager. I'll only accept on answer "we'll call you when the door panel is here for install"

Just a side note and not sure if anyone else has noticed this. If you look at the door panels in the natural light they have a green hue to them as if they weren't black but a super dark green.

    Edit:7/4/17
Welll here's a update on mine. Now I work for that dealership where I bought the truck leaving the company I was at for 14 years. Talked to the service manager on Monday again had to take more pictures. Good thing is now I'm closer to the source and be a real pain in the ass about it. Let me catch the AMM and its on like Donkey Kong. This is bullshit. I will make everyone's life miserable for the next two years until something gets done.

Seems like you could go into some dealers with a flat tire and their response would be, "Huh, never seen a tire do that before. We'll have to get back to you next week when the Regional Manager is supposed to be in town."

    You are a great tech! I w
That's exactly what I would've done as well. Toyota used to be no questions asked in the 90's.

Hit it with a heat gun or blow drier. It loos like stressed plastic.
