    So I have to replace my rear wheel bearing,. Anyone know of any assembly already together for this or do I have to bite the bullet and pay a shop. I don't have a press.

    The bearing is pressed onto the axle shaft so you for sure need a press.

    I have heard tale of a whole hub/shaft kit but have not yet seen it for the 06 dc

    I doubt it would make financial sense for the supplier or the consumer simply because of shipping cost: you'd have to pay shipping twice since you'd need to send your core back. It also wouldn't allow for checking of seal/race alignment -- which would be a deal breaker for me.

    A press is a handy thing to have, and needing to replace my rear axle bearings was the justification I needed to get one.
    I paid $140 for the 20 ton press at Harbor Freight. Another $160 for the special tool on ebay. I watched Timmy the Toolman's video a few times, and spent a day doing the driver's side. When I do the passenger side it will only take a half day because I know what I'm doing now.
    For me, I love the doing it DIY, I love that I learned a new skill, and I love that I now have a shop press -- which I've wanted for years.

    I've done three of these. An odd number because I had to remove and reinstall the oil seal collar ring as it was overpressed on like BMF's up there. It has to be pressed on with a tolerance of a few millimeters to make good contact with the axle housing oil seal, otherwise you'll be leaking gear oil out the axle ends (dirty secret: you can press on two collars if you mess up the first one, and still be in tolerance). There is a Toyota SST (special service tool) for removing and installing the bearing. You can make your own and use a shop press, but it's a better investment to make friends with a Toyota Tech and ask him to sneak it in after hours to his own shop.

    If you remove the entire axle as shown above and bring it in to a shop, you may save yourself some money. My local 4WP does Toyota axles sometimes, and they charge much less hourly than Toyota dealers. Especially if your rig doesn't marinate in one of their lift bays.

    I have extra bearing parts from my adventures. Possibly an entire "kit". Let me know if you're interested. My Gen1 was totaled and gone, so my spare parts are getting dusty.

    I pulled both axels last night. The passenger side was horrible, definitely the culprit. Taking the axels today to see if they are OK. Fingers crossed !

    No , there is an industrial /oilfield place in town that is doing it.....Said could do them both for 85$! Thought that was a steal!

    Seals come in the mail today ! Hopefully get pressed tomorrow, project for the afternoon is to clean up the diff cleaned up and and ready to go

    What about the seal in the axle housing? That’s the one that was was leaking gear oil.

    Just remember you get what you pay for. Just because they CAN press it doesnt mean it'll be correct.

    They do quality work. Have used them several times before when other places didn't have big enough press. Should be getting back by noon tomorrow so hopefully I can get it done tomorrow. Probably change the axel Seals in the morning before I put it back together. One less thing to do later.

    Sorry Cacoleman, it's highly unlikly an industrial repair shop gets the retainer ring pressed back into the proper location. I'm thinking your results will mirror our friend BMF who is still dealing with this issue.

    I'm not trying to be a troll, and I hope it works out for you. There's only a 10mm window that allows the seal to contact the retainer which is why Toyota shops have some special jigs and tools used when pressing. Plus the time to set-up and confirm proper placement. That's why most dealerships are $600 per axle.

    Hopefully you took some measurements of the retainer location to verify before you gave it to them. If not, post some pics of the results to compare to an improper pressing like BMF received. Just don't want you to reassemble everything with new brakes only to have gear oil ruin it all in a couple thousand miles.

    One of my axels ended up being damaged. I will be ordering one, but it does not come with bearing on it. Does anyone know the correct measurements for the abs ring position? I have been looking a bit and I am not coming up with much

    the bearing retainer ring pushes the speed sensor ring into place, it butts against it. Use that 122mm measurement and you're good.
