Floor Jack Point on Skid Plate

Have yet to do an oil change yet on my 2019 TRD Pro. Anyone know if there is a floor jack point on the skid plate. Looks as though there is a frame supported point just aft of front bend in plate. Can not as yet find any reference to it in manual.

 

I usually place my floor jack under one of the lower control arms to raise the truck up high enough to get my jack stands under the frame up near the front tow hook attachments. Gives full access to allow the skid pan to be unbolted and dropped out. If you place jack under the skid pan, you won't be able to remove it!

Manual says circle indentation on bottom of skid is meant as a jackpoint

Don't need to remove plate on a Pro. They should all have access panels. Some freaking idiot at Toyota made it exclusive to Pros

 

Saw the circle on skid plate, location looks to be frame supported. It's clear skid plate does not need to be removed for oil change. There is removable access panel for filter housing which utilizes same tool as my Lexus. Oil pan drain plug is easy to get to. Had plans to install same Fumoto valve for future changes. Have used Fumoto valves on three previous vehicles, slower drains but much cleaner.

 

I meant the paper work included with the skid plate. Toyota calls it the “customer care card” the circle is reinforced with a large box spacer to distribute the weight. It’s meant to be a jack point although I couldn’t find that card anywhere. I have it in my files and can pull it when I’m home but no luck online.

Skid plate works on all models not just pro. I bought the 2019 TRD pro plate and it fits my 16 sr5. Same with all the pro parts.

 

I jack my truck up from the designed lift point on the TRD skid plate when i need to lift the front. Check these two pictures out. The skid plate picture where the blue circle is where i place the jack.

 

The big black Rhino plastic ramps. Rated at 12,000 lbs. Boy they are easy. $39 for a pair at Walmart. I will also put jack stands under the frame for safety.

 

Jack it up for an oil change?

My '10 has the stock TRD suspension with zero lift and I can crawl right under there with no problem.

 

My wifes car is a little lower than my tundra. I only needed a little bit of room so I layed two short pieces of 2x4 under the tires. 1.5 inches of lift! Easy

 

+1, never jack up for oil change. With 6112s I can even drain straight in to 5gt jug. Just have wait for first 3 then switch jugs

 

Found skid plate install instructions online for gen 3 TRD Pro. Does not mention the "circle" as a jack point. I've sent a email to Toyota Tech Support. Although I won't need to jack up for oil change, plenty of room to get to stuff. If you need to jack stand all four it would simplify the process to utilize that area as a jack point. BTW its a damn nice truck, have been a Ford guy for a long time....but the VooDoo Blu, has to have one!!

Saw that, BTW Toyota Customer Support says no. Probably just looked in O&M manual. Might be worth $20 to sign up for TSB and TIS for two days...think I will

 

Is there a document number on the Customer Care Card....Like nothing more that to prove "customer support" wrong....

 

Like others have noted; you shouldn't need to jack it up for an oil change. Nonetheless, I just installed the '19 Pro skid several months back. I then jacked it up a few times in the last few weeks while installing some upgraded calipers/ rotors.

I took a piece of treated 2x4 about 12" long... Enough so that I could place it under the back two mounting bolts of the skid... Which are attached to the crossmember you would otherwise place the Jack. Centered the 2x4 on the Jack (of course).
Depending on your lift height and Jack stands, you may consider using a 4x4.

 

Always get all 4 corners off ground on jack stands so I can rotate tires while changing oil!!

 

I use same jack spot on skid then put jack stands on frame and remove my non- pro plate to access oil housing , pan etc

 

I’ve had no luck finding it online but it looks like somebody above posted an image from the card. I am currently traveling and will return home in two weeks. I have the card there. I’ll post both sides of the card when I get home. Until then, good luck! Ps the reason there is a box spacer at that point is to strengthen it for jacking. You can see it in the install instructions.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. I have to say I’m pretty bummed to see how extensive my cam tower leak is. I pulled the engine splash guards and found this drainage / weep. If I would have been diligent to find this I wouldn’t have purchased the truck or I would have bargained for much less than $23,500. My plan is to keep a very keen eye on oil levels right before each oil change. I’ll follow toyota recommended procedure for checking oil level as far as warm up & idle etc. such a bummer but here we are
