'16 tundra: bed liner or bed mat?

Hi all,
Just got my new tundra without the bed liner.

Do you guys install your own bed liner (if it didn't include with your purchase) or do you use a bed mat?

I prefer not to sand and spray the bed.

First thing I got on my truck was my Linex spray on bedliner. I absolutely love it. Although it's a little disturbing that they have to sand a brand new bed, but you're never going to see it, ever. Drop ins can be problematic. They can warp over time and start shifting, water can get under and cause rust, dirt can get under and scratch like sand paper, they're thicker, etc. Same thing goes for just a bed mat. And the bed mat won't cover the wheel wells neither. I think I paid about $850 for the Linex and it was well worth it.

 

Mine came with the spray in bed liner from the factory. It's better than the plastic, but doesn't quite have the texture of a Linex or Rhino lining. I would go with one of those if you decide to spray it or have someone else spray it. Some of the bed mats work well though if you are looking for a cheaper option with the sole purpose of keeping stuff from sliding around. My dad uses one in his truck and it seems to work pretty well.

 

I went with a bedrug. I have had the spray in type liners and they are good. I wanted to try something different. I was a little skeptical at first, but I read a lot of reviews and have been happy with it. It does provide some nice padding if you have to crawl on the bed for anything. Seems to be durable, time will tell. It's been in my bed about 3 1/2 months. Not cheap though. I would check with any vendors on here for pricing.

 

Bed Rugs are not bad. I have one in my truck. Glad I didn't go the spray in route. (Although spray in bed liners are a very good option.) The Bed Rug is great if you have the unexpected stay over, have a topper, oh and you can also load gravel, rocks, lumber, bricks, compost, you name it. Totally breathable and washable. (oh, I forgot about roller blading):

 

It seems spray is very popular and most recommended route. I also did a couple search on the bed rugs price somewhere around 400-450 bucks.

Here is a quote I've just received from a local authorized dealer. Are these reasonable price?

 

I check Craig's List every day. I finally found a near new Bed Rug for $200. The seller totaled his Tundra a bought a new RAM (his problem). Spray- in is definitely the most popular route. As far as spray-in...shop around and get 2 or 3 estimates.

 

It's amazing how so many are not aware of the Bed Rug and how versatile it is. Not too mention the exact fit. I've spent a night in my truck (I do have a topper which helps). The Bed Rug has padding (as mentioned before, intirely indoor outdoor, washable in place). Rino Liner can be a bit abrasive if you ever have to sleep on it.

 

Like I said, near new for $200. Even better with a topper. Can't beat it IMHO.

Also good for camping/hunting situations ,etc..

 

After so much research, reading reviews over the weekend and compared prices, advantage/disadvantage;
I've placed an order from autoanything for $361 shipped (chat with customers service to get the discount, listed for 425).

Had one in my 2012 Tundra and now one in my 16. Old one was excellent. Held up really well and you could simply blow the box out, pressure wash it or simply vacuum.

Yeah, I wish. I'd have to subtract about 40 years. My daughter is 29 something... Glad I didn't do the spray in. Was close to doing it. Bed Rug is the way to go. All purpose (literally) and actually comfortable. IMHO.

 

I put a bedrug in my tundra and love it. Extra cushion if i need to lay back there and i dont have to worry about scratching delicate things when i put it in the bed or tailgate. Also it covers all the way up underneath the bedrails.

 

I did line x premium and threw a rubber bed mat there. When I get a camper shell, I might get a bed rug mat so I can sleep there.

 

That seems kind of expensive. I think I paid 450 for the standard line-x

 

I have a factory spray liner and a rubber mat on top of that.

 

I only have a rubber bed mat for now. Hoping to get Line-X if I beat the bed up enough. I will keep the bed mat in there though, I love that thing!

 

I did the linex (600$can) and added the toyota rubber mat (free from dealer but it's only 140$can retail), had one in my tacoma and its very sticky, nothing slides back there, in my tacoma I had a case on beer in there lenghtwise and had to do a hard braking and it flipped over instead of sliding.

 

I had no idea the bedrug is so versatile. Of course I learn this after buying the spray in and a mat to go on top.

 

My truck came with the spray on liner and I added the Bedrug mat and tailgate mat. Its made to go on top of spray on and has all of the cushion and other properties mentioned. Best of both worlds!

 

Those of you with the bed rug without a cover or shell how long does it stay wet after a rain? Any worries of premature corrosion due to the added moisture?

Well hell, I just realized they are made right here in Nashville. I'm going the bedrug route for sure.

 

I have a spray-in bed liner in my Tundra, so I bought the Bed Rug mat and tailgate mat instead of the whole Bed Rug liner. Both work well and are made to dry quickly since the rug itself is made of recycled plastic and the cushioned back is very porous. I had the full Bed Rug in my previous truck (Silverado). No issues with corrosion with either one.
