I have been putting this off way too long, and after this afternoon, I need to update my overall security around the exterior of my home.

This past Thursday the wife and I poured a little concrete slab in front of our house to fix the sidewalk. I like my home appearance and take pride in making it look nice for all my neighbors. Last night we uncovered the pad and it turned out good. Cured for 5 days, so it was ok to drive on. It does still look wet, but is fine.

I come home tonight and seen this bullshit:

    IMG_0104.jpg

You can see the rather large tire that rolled up on my concrete and then moved the steering back and forth.

To help determine who needs to pay for shit like this, or whom needs a shovel across the C-6/7.

So what you got and why?

Depends on your budget. Something simple you can grab at Costco vs wanting to drop much more...all depends.
I would suggest a 4 cam dvr at minimum with Ethernet accsss so you can view cams at anytime.

Came home from a road trip to find muddy foot prints in my bed and two rather large dents in the top of the cab. My assumption is kids retrieving something from my roof, however that shit isn't cool! So I just installed the 16 channel 8 camera Night Owl system I found at Sams for 370$ regularly 599$. Super easy to set up the 1080p cameras have good range and the night owl app is simple to download and easy to navigate. Here is a night shot from the app the actual view on the TV is crystal clear. IP - different conenction port (using IP addresses) and much clearer FPS (frames per second)

    PTZ: Point Tilt Zoom.

Here it is zoomed up on. Try that on an analog camera and the quality will not be the same. Same applies for playback, only its much more pixelated on analog playback

You can always put one of these in the driveway. It's kinda not economical and requires a lot of gas, but it'll scare the little kids away -

Guys i just purchaced and had cameras installed last friday. Went with Alibi HD TVI 16 channel dvr with 6T hard drive. Coax wires ran for all cameras. Almost all of my house and shop is monitored now and i had my security guy do all of the install and he hooked up to the internet as well. I got the 3megapixel infared outdoor turret dome cameras 130' range and two of the varifocal motorized PTZ cameras. 13 cameras now and i could always add 3 more plus two IT cams. The system is in our bedroom and i am going to build a totally awesome custom workstation/desk unit with steel cased 'safe' for the dvr hard drive. It will also house a small safe. Also putting in another monitor in the kitchen and another monitor in the shop. Lots and lots and lots of wire. Total cost over $3500 but i feel totally worth it to protect ourselves.

Have had the wires ran for a couple years and origionally had non HD cameras put in but told the guys to take them back because the quality sucked balls.
I am very impressed with this Alibi dvr. It has so many awesome features...still learning it. Bought from supercircuits online.

Here is the DVR info...keep in mind "hybrid" is due to a mixture of analog/IP cams. These are cams/DVR I use at my old job location that I still have access to.

I have a 4 camera dvr system I bought at Costco a few years ago its made by Samsung it worked really good for about 1 year then 1 camera went out and now the night vision seems to be hit or miss I will be upgrading my cameras soon the dvr seems to still be fine so I will probably just buy some new cameras

Id love to have IP PTZ cameras... but i still need to feed my kids.

at my old house i had a CCTV system, it was great. i could watch from my phone and see what was going on.

at my business i have 2 dvr systems, 32 cameras total.
they're from costco, the samsung packaged system. they are ok, but i would love it if IP cameras came down in price... cant justify spending sooo much per camera.
