I've been lurking for a long time after building out my 2002 Tundra SR5 Access Cab into a decent hunting/camping vehicle. Anyways she was a great truck (never had a single issue with it) for the 7 years or so I had her but my 6 year old son has grown to the point where it wasn't a great fit for long distances for him or my wife. I spent a few month searching around and finally located a 2015 in great condition with low mileage. This is the build thread for that "newish" truck.

To note: this is primarily for me to keep track of what I've done over time.

Also to note: I originally started a thread here but I've asked for that one to be deleted.

These are the original dealer photos.

First thing to go was the ridiculous stock antenna. Replaced it with a Rydonair 13" Stubby.

I also installed a console tray for the center console and I'm pretty sure I can still fit a big ol bucket of fried chicken under the tray.

    Generic Stock Photo:
    console-tray.jpg

Even though these first updates to the build were cosmetic it still feels pretty damn good.

The next upgrade/modification was best left up to the professionals. For whatever reason there was neither drop-in or spray-in bedliner at all. Growing up in Texas this normally wouldn't be an issue but seeing as how I live 500 meters from the ocean it was a priority for me. I took it to Mike's Truck to get it sprayed with Line-X.

Since it was already there I also had them spray the "clone" nFab Predator nerf bars.

There have been many posts about the shitty chrome trim around the center console cupholders. Yes it was an issue a little plastidip and so much better.

So the lift/tires combination was causing quite a bit of rubbing so I decided to do a BMC.

In this photo you can see the bits that are being rubbed when the tires are turned to the far left/right:
    IMG_20190630_152506.jpg

Started out by removing quite a bit of the plastic.
    IMG_20190630_172807.jpg

That worked for the most part and clearance was pretty decent although there was a slight rub when cranked all the way left/right.
    IMG_20190701_154442.jpg

In the end I removed even more of the plastic as well as part of the bumper itself and no zero rub.
    IMG_20190701_164117.jpg
    IMG_20190701_164126.jpg

Yes it's less than ideal but I plan on replacing the OEM front bumper with a steel aftermarket bumper in the near future.

Man that's one healthy scoop you took out of your front bumper there. Guess it's good motivation to buy an aftermarket sooner than later

Indeed. otoh I have elk/deer tags for Montana/Idaho this fall so need to pick up something that better protects the front end before those two weeks. Hitting either a elk/deer sucks (firsthand knowledge).

Replaced the stock Tundra rear stickers with something more appropriate. Will probably replace in Matte Black.

A few more cosmetic changes this weekend between other chores.

Covered the chrome vent rings with some TufSkinzs Matte Black Covers.

    Before:
    IMG_20190718_190332.jpg

    After:
    IMG_20190718_191954.jpg

Replaced the stock radiator cap with the TRD version.

    Before:
    IMG_20190718_192124.jpg

    After:
    IMG_20190718_192159.jpg

Same with the Oil Filler Cap.

    Before:
    IMG_20190718_192224.jpg

    After:
    IMG_20190718_192410.jpg

Pretty sure that I've added at least 20BHP (split between the two) with the TRD Radiator Cap and Oil Filler Cap.

And finally I got around to plasti-dipping the chrome ring around the gear shift as well as the top plate.

The nerf bars look good sprayed in that liner. What kind of flag pole is that?
