This forum rocks, it’s been a blast getting to know the in’s and out’s of these trucks since I started lurking before picking up my ‘14 DC back in April.

Of course with all of the love for the P3, I had to order one, as my truck came with the tow package which excluded the factory brake controller.

Before I went and bought a mount from ESP (which look really nice!) I figured I’d take a stab at chopping the stock bracket and fitting it into the dash panel which came stock on my truck.

I wanted it to be as recessed into the panel as possible as there’s really not much room between my knee and the dash as it is, and having the controller protrude forward like everything I’ve seen to date seemed like it would get in the way.

Then there’s the inevitable realization that you can’t really recess the P3 controller due to the location of the manual brake lever underneath, that is unless you have access to the lever even with it recessed :)

The last image is of the backside before I cut the access hole underneath for the mechanical lever. I used 1/4” spacers, 3/4” long 8-32 screws, and the stock mounting bracket cut in half to mount the controller through the hole cut (Dremel) through the panel.

So there ya go, something a little different for ya to noodle on!

That is totally awesome! I wish I would have thought of something like that. Since I am so short, I have to have my seat all the way forward, and I hit my knee on the controller all the time.

Nice work! What did you use to cut the access panel? Do you know which brackets you bought for the interior mount?
