Ok, this is a pretty dead thread, but I don't wanna start a new one for ATVs/UTVs when there is already one here. I put the deposit down on my first (unless you count crap when I was a kid) toy of this nature. Peer pressure of a buddy getting a sweet Yamaha 4 wheeler and my brother getting a 4 seat Turbo RZR for his family was just too much. Initially looked at a bunch of Side by Sides, but the 18K-23K price was just too much. Figured if they were half that I would be on it. Well, my brother asked me what I thought about the Polaris RZR RS1.... Long story short :spending: here's some pics.

Haven't even seen it in person, and can't go pick it up until Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Very excited. Watched a lot of youtube on maintenance for it, accessories, reviews before making the decision. There goes my budget for mods on the Tundra.

I think so. I like adrenaline, but I like safe adrenaline, so this thing will probably stay stock as far as power levels go. I know, I'm boring.

I am hoping this thread can kind of be a resource for info, questions, and things for this whole thing. If anybody has any tips, recommended accessories, things to watch for, etc. I would love to hear it. I don't want to have to find another forum for my UTV. Much prefer to keep all my forum time on this site. :)

Always wear your seatbelt and always wear a helmet. That is the only way you are safe in that. Trust me.

Yeah, I figure I'd do the buy once cry once thing. Really thought about getting a 4 wheeler to save some cash, but I've been on them enough and I just prefer being belted into a seat with a wheel and pedals about a 1000 times more that I sucked it up and pulled the trigger. I'm a noob and a filthy casual for ATV/UTV stuff, so this thing should be way more than I need and I can grow into it as I get more comfortable.

Helmets were mentioned earlier, and I don't have a ton of experience with selection. I did get one back when I had my motorcycle, but I made the mistake of buying it online (loved it but my head was the wrong shape). Learned you really should try it on before you buy it.

Anyway, I am hoping to tap into the wisdom of those with more experience so I know what to look for and what questions to ask. I'm kind of drawn to the modular helmets with internal sunshades (my bike helmet had the internal shade and it was a great feature), because I wear glasses and I am kinda claustrophobic. I think being able to open the whole front of the helmet would make it a more enjoyable affair. I just don't know how much of what I did learn on the bike helmet will be applicable to an off road, seated vehicle with a windshield on it.

I've been checking out various lists, buyer's guides, and reviews, but everybody is so soft with reviews these days. Can any of you tell me the helmets you are running, and have run in the past? What did you like/dislike?

    My wish list
    • Accommodates glasses
    • Good ventilation (I think this will be really important because of the windshield)
    • Internal sunshade so I don't have to swap shields would be glorious
    • Rather not have to sell a kidney to afford it

Got it home yesterday. Just went a half mile up the road and back. Cold and rainy, so I'm inside doing laundry. Really hoping tomorrow is good weather.

First pic is the mileage towing it home.

Men ( and gals) and their toys. Many many assessories available for the Atv, ITV’s. I have had Suzuki Atv’s since 2006 mostly the Kingquads. Loved my Atv! We started a club here in No Utah and it has been very successful. In the beginning everyone had atv’s or 2 ups. Then utv’s took over and I was about the only Jedi Knight left- everyone went to the Dark Side buying utv’s. Well, last year, after freezing my Keester off and swallowing the renowned Utah Powder, ( dust) I sold my quad and had a third down ($$) for a jk Jeep. This 2012 has heat, air soft top, hard top and can take three other people with me! Wife loves it, grand kids love it and we’ve all had a great, comfortable time. Seeing the cost of new side-by sides I feel pretty good. This is NOT to take away from the fun you and others have on your Atv/ Utv’s. We do have a great assessories outlet in Payson, Ut-Rocky Mountain motorcycle/ atv parts. Great outfit!

Anyone know of a good used ATV buyers guide? I don't want to clog up this thread. I found a few videos online but nothing great. When I see used ATV's for sale I'm having trouble determining if it's priced fair as there isn't much to compare to.

Darn straight that’s a tough one. I have no good answers either. Lots get abused and neglected, others are well maintained. Lately prices on used, beat quads are stoopidly high priced around here, as if 20 years old and beat like a red-headed step-child means they are worth 2/3 of new.

All I can say is look around lots, and compare to new before making a decision. It’s a lot like buying a used truck, but worse. Oh, and Honda’s and Yamaha’s hold their value for a reason. Just try to decide if it is really reasonable.

Just got the most boring, but best, accessory for my Quadzilla... Insurance. Always feels like wasted money:(, but I just can't justify not having it. Hope I never use it, but if I do, I'll be damn glad I have it. Stay safe out there, Everybody. :bikewhoops:

I have a PCI Race Radios helmet, and going to get my girlfriend one since we just bought a sxs two weeks ago. They're not the modular motorcycle kind like you're talking about, but they come setup for forced air and comm hookups. Rugged Radios also sells similar helmets. You can buy a forced air system that will pump filtered air into your helmet and maintain positive pressure so dust wont get into it, and you can also buy a radio and plug it into the helmet so you can talk to people if others in your group have comms. We also just bought harnesses (and seats) from PRP. Imo those are the more basic things I would start with, helmet and forced air so you can always see and breathe even when following someone in dust, and harnesses.

At first we were using the fully enclosed helmets but then my wife said she felt to "closed in" So I switched to the 3/4 open face helmets, which work out pretty good and keep your head cool from the wind. I also attached bluetooth wireless mics which are great due to these things having loud exhaust. Lol, They were 75 dollar helmets each. Off brand Dot 3's.

Cool beans, man. If you ever make goodies for the RS1 let us know. Huge market in the RZR line in general.

Ok, so I posted up the pics of it dirty, and after getting it dirty you have to clean it. Now, in the manual for mine it specifically states that you should never use a pressure washer or car wash to clean it. Apparently anything that gets more pressure than your basic garden hose can damage stuff. Then it says that to shine it up you just use aerosol furniture polish....

This is all out of the same book that says you should never jump it, go fast, ride hills, or have any kind of fun in it whatsoever, so what do you guys use/do to clean yours? I'm going to stick to the no pressure washing rule, as it's not a hard one to follow, but I wanted to know what soaps and cleaners you guys have used and had success with. Anything you've found to maybe help make it more of a rinse off project over scrubbing? The textured black plastic seems to want to hold any dirt or mud that has had a chance to dry at all.

Side note: Of course, after I buy my mirrors they go on sale!:mad::mad: They are in the link at the bottom of the page for less than I ordered, and some sellers have them for even less! Hope this info does somebody some good!

Another question, anyone know a good resource for finding ATV/UTV friendly trails/locations?

OnX off road may be nice to have for trails. I would assume if you are in Wyoming per your profile, they have plenty. You should be able to find info online pretty easily.
