Does anyone out there know of a hard tonneau that would work with a regular bed rail mount tool box? I’m not opposed to an in bed tool box, although if there’s a cover that would work with a traditional tool box that would be my preferred route. Happy 4th!!! :oldglory:

Edit: Just realized I should have posted this in the camper shell/tonneau cover section!

Diamondback makes a hard cover/bin combo that works together.

That’s a nice setup. Might be worth the investment on that one

I just installed mine. I went with the 8" deep model. Provides about 9.5" between inside bottom of the bin and underside of the cover. Nicely constructed.

Does the first section fold all the way back? I carry pallets of material sometime and would need that first section to fold and lock.

Agreed. I carry my tools for work with me the vast majority of the time (reasoning for wanting a tonneau in the first place) I’d need some versatility in this to get into the bed of my truck with a forklift or a lull and not have to worry about head room.

Bakflip has one also, but I’ve read that it’s not incredibly well made.

Never followed through with it but I talked to a shop that did boat covers when I had a toolbox. They said it was no big deal to cut down a frame and restitch a tonneau. That was just a snap cover, I assume Velcro ones would be easy too.

    A bunch
There's no locking mechanism, would have to wrap a strap around the cover to keep it from moving, but it does fold all the way back by unhooking the shocks. Although one of the main purposes of the Diamondback is to just carry that stuff on top of the cover, the HD cover can support more than our trucks are rated for. And for the super big items the cover is by far the easiest I've installed, within 30 minutes I can take it all the way off and put it back on.

It folds all the way back when you disconnect the little shocks, but you would have to keep it tied down somehow. Each panel is very easy to completely remove, though.
