    None, yet....
Can’t provide recommendations for locations, but I can provide technical advice. Generally, 4.88s puts you back to factory-ish gear ratios on 35s. That doesn’t mean you have to get 4.88s though. If you’re a person who tows super heavy loads often, or one of those guys that packs 4K lbs worth of camper and other items on top of your already heavy truck, then you may consider 5.29s. If you just want to get rid of the sluggishness and get it closer to factory ratios, then 4.88s is the way to go.

Sweet thank you. Yeah I’m getting a new camper trailer. Probably around 26ft.

4:88’s with 35’s should work good. They do for me.
If you’re in the San Diego area I highly recommend Pro Gear.

If you’re looking for advice on which ratio to go with I always recommend that you check to see if the person giving the advice has tried both ratios. If they’re just repeating something that they’ve read and haven’t actually tried both ratios to determine which ratio works best on a tundra...???...

Tundras are different. They have adaptive memory ecu’s. Without going into a huge technical discussion, they constantly calculate load. By ‘slowing’ wheel speed with bigger tires the truck miscalculates load, and it’s not in your favor.

When you ‘speed up’ Wheel speed with gears, if you over speed the wheel speed, the truck also mis calculates load. But this time it’s in your favor.

You actually lose Hp with the slower mis calculation. 40 hp to be exact!! But when you over speed the tires you don’t gain Hp, however, you see far more timing. The torque converter stays locked up waaaay more. The truck holds 6th gear waaaay more instead of downshifting constantly. You stay in closed loop instead of jumping from closed to open. Afr remains constant at 14.7/1 waaay more instead of jumping back n forth to as rich as 10/1!!!

The miscalculation or load that makes it look like less load (5.29’s) actually makes for better fuel economy. Better driveability. More Hp more of the time. Better acceleration. Just better all around. The only reason not to run 5.29 over 4.88 is if your tires are smaller than 34”

Please feel free to give a call for further explanation.

Can you run 32" tire height with 4.88 gears with the 5.7 tundra. People say more engine wear due to higher rpm is that true?

The engine wear is negligible. I’ve run 4.88 in my 03 for years and over 200k miles. It now has 270k. No issues.

You can run 4.88. Done it a few times. Stock tires are 32’s

Higher rpm doesn’t hurt the truck. Lugging it makes for worse mpg

It’s worth a phone call. I’m happy to share knowledge, a lot of which is exclusive to tundras.

When you get the chance, hold it in 4th a few seconds at a steady 70 and see what she turns. Mine drops by nearly 1000 rpm when I shift from 4th to 5th.

Use the calculator on this site it has been useful to me in my decision to move to 4.88 as it is a good range for my 35s and my future 37s

5.29 on 37’s, love it, definitely not over geared, got a ticket for 95 and was under 3k rpm....Speedo showed 82, oops, hypertech going in the weekend.

All data is based on a 1:1 ratio, that's 4th gear for us. 5th & 6th gear don't appear on the graph.

We have installed literally more 100 Diffs in Tundras. Choices are good. So by all means call around. But definitely don’t forget to give me a call. My old school way of doing business is very rare these days. 760-877-4234

I’ve tried 4.88’s. They’re a little sluggish on 35’s and really sluggish on 37’s. Better than stock. But bumping up to 5.29 has all the benefits with zero side effects.

I've got mine in the shop as we speak for 4.88s. So I really have no real world experience with anything besides stock. Strictly using calculations for reference.. How long should it take for gears to be done? I feel like it's taking alot longer than it should.. they have had it since 8am Monday morning

Were on day 3 now for mine. The shop strictly does gears to and came recommended. But its gear connections out of Redding. What part of California are you in?
