Has anybody experienced any issues with their transmission? Longer then usual to go into drive. Clanks or clunks going into drive. Hard downshifting, especially when coasting and then getting back into it. I would like to hear from you. What did you find out and did it ever lead to anything worse. Thanks in advance.

My trans did a weird clunk after coasting and I would accelerate. Did it mainly between 35-45 when the trans was warmed up and in heavy traffic on i95. They did the PCS update and oddly enough the trans started shifting better in traffic.

Did you ever find out what was going on? Mine started doing exactly that. Very hard shift from R to D and clanks when coasting down around 30-40mph.

Mine still does the clunking in the right scenario is not broken so the dealership will not take care of it all you can do is make a report and documented that way in case and transmission does fail you can have proof that you brought it in prior to it failing and hopefully it would be taken care of, when it is out of warranty

I took it in last week but all they did was reset the adaptive shift points. It still does the clunking but at least now I have it documented in the service history. I'm surprised that a Tundra at 23k miles would start doing this.

The only clunking I've had is going from Park to Drive when cold. Doesn't matter if I let the truck warm up for 10 minutes or if I jump in start it up and go. Only does it cold starts though. No other issues with general shifting in gears either way. Mines a 2020

My 2014 would shift a bit weird when cold. Very firm shifting through the gears. My 2020 shifts smooth all of the time.

When leaving work, feels like my transmission slips some for the first couple times I get one the gas, then does not do it again. Weird thing is when I leave home it does not do that... only difference is that I back out of garage at home no pull straight out at work...
Other than that, trans operates great.

I get the hard downshift when coasting around 30-40mph and then getting back on the gas. Doesn't happen every time and hard to replicate so I haven't bothered taking to dealer.

Mine does this everyday. I just learned to feather the peddle and listen/feel when to get back on it. Maybe I should at least bring it to their attention. Done it since I bought her

Have you tried greasing the U joints? It helped a lot to smooth out the shifting for me.

Very hard to replicate at the dealership! It never happens when you need it to.

You can’t really make the techs do it at the dealership. They have to follow their own rule book.

Is your garage heated at home? That is the difference, these trannies operate far smoother when at operating temp.

Nice thought about garage, no, it is not heated... it has done this since buying it in July. Temperature outside hotter than garage and still does it... very consistent, does not slip at all after that first turn from parking lot.

I park outside and definitely notice my transmission delays shifts and the power is not there when I first start it from being cold. A little bit of a whine sound as well from the truck until it gets up to temp. Had this on other cars in the past so I consider it pretty normal. I just take it easy for a a couple miles until the temp gauge starts showing some life.
