Just out of curiosity, anyone had any luck using white plasti dip and glossifier to color match bumper ends on a super white Tundie?

I had mine vinyl wrapped and it looks amazing. Plasti dip may be easier to use.

Lol, nice 1st post, welcome both you and OP!

If you're gonna keep this truck for a while, powder coat matched paint looks the most OEM. Matching wrap can look just as good but it'll chip and peel after a few years. PD is the cheapest method, but often looks DIY up close because the color and texture won't be the same. I have seen the ends PD'd black which looks like an extension of the front bumper so more OEM like. Your call, you have to like it first and foremost.

    White? No.

I did mine in plasti dip anthracite, and coated that with glossifier. It turned out great. The stuff has been on there for months.BF9C6564-90D3-4AEB-B4D3-F0EC6E11AFC4.jpg 300C139E-AF32-4946-BEF1-F1D9EBB5F368.jpg

I think ill be happiest with PC, im picky about it having a smooth surface and I don't think even the glossifier will be as smooth as PC or paint

I think so, go to a dealership and look at Platinum bumper ends up close in the day. You also won't need to be as careful pressure washing as you would with wrap, and rock chipped vinyl can't be touched up nicely like PC. It's easier to somewhat match Plastidip a black or MGM truck, but I wouldn't try it with white or colors.

The PD closely matching the MGM is pure luck. Impossible to know if white will be close enough.

The PD was very cheap and pretty easy, and it goes right on the existing chrome. It’s also easy to change back.

Powder coat is amazing stuff, and for a permanent change, it’s probably the way to go.

I tried white dip and it wasn’t close enough or glossy enough for my likings so I just had them match painted. I think I paid around $150

I think the while would look just as good as the black or anthracite does on MGM. Definitely get some glossifier. Also you can use spray wax after to take away some of the stickiness and matte finish

Whoa. That’s not black right??? That looks just like MGM. Does it match pretty good in the daylight? Did you take them off to paint, or leave them on?

I left them on, but loosened the surrounding bumper materials.

You could probably get away with careful masking and no disassembly.

For MGM, anthracite is a damn close match- even in daylight.

Looks fantastic! I have used Plasti Dip for a few things like this over the past few years. It held up fairly well for me, but never put it on something that gets beat up a lot like the front bumper.

I have had to do touch ups about 3 or 4 times now in the last couple months. It is now probably time to peel them off and do it over.

However, I have determined that I like the look and am now seriously debating just painting and clear coating them.

I tried Plasti-dipping mine but clearly I lack the skill of some of you, mine looked good in the garage but in the sunlight they looked uneven, just terrible. I peeled it all the same day and had them wrapped two days later, much happier with it now.

That is what I am trying to avoid, lots of touch ups and rock marks. I am wondering if using USC clear coat (2k gloss or Spraymax matte) would protect it better. I watched a few videos and the two products seem to interact with one another, the Plasti Dip coats and adheres while the clear coat hardens the Plasti Dip... which likely gives it added protection.

I will say from what I have seen the USC clear coat makes it a pain to peel the Plasti Dip off.

Another option might be to go to your local auto store with paint capabilities and have them mix you up a rattle can of factory matched white. Then use a scotch pad to give the chrome a bit of texture, or remove the bumper ends and have the dechromed at your local auto body shop (saw another post where it only cost $30 to remove the chrome). Follow it up with the rattle can and then throw a several coats of clear coat on top. It is a bit more involved but might get you better results.

Another tip is to just spend the $7 on the plastidip and spray it over a chrome or shiny metal object (shovel, old baking sheet, spare tire rim, old hub cap) the place it next to your truck for comparison outside in the sunshine and shade.'

This guy did his whole grille surround in white - looks pretty sharp

You forgot to take into account the curvature of the earth, the flux capacitor, and it’s all ball bearings these days so give or take .5hp.

    Still rocking the stock height.
I am about to do my bumper ends and grille. I'm hoping that I am able to do them with them on the truck. I think I'm going with black, but seeing the anthracite ones above, I might try that.

I looked into painting/powdercoating before but I was always told there would be adhesion problems and would need to get new caps thar are paintable. That would cost too much that I thought if I did that, I would just change the bumper. I ended up plastidipping mine with a glossifier at first (top) then eventually used bumpershellz (bottom.) plastidip held up well but man taking those bugs out are a pain.

That looks great! That is a super close color match!

I plasti dipped the end caps on my wife's Tribeca. I then applied a clear coat with hardener to give it the glossy look. They didn't have glossifier at my local auto shop or hardware store. I went with Dupli Clear Coat but heard USC 2k is a great product... just couldn't locate any locally.
    BEFORE

    AFTER

The only thing about the plasti dip that I am not crazy about is the pebbling effect. I put 5 coats on these, two light, followed by three moderate to heavy coats. I think it would look great on bumper ends though.
