so I’ve been messing with the idea of going to 17 rebounds and 37 km3s. Im on 18 method grids and 35 nitro ridge grapplers. I would prefer scs Ray 10s in 17s in a +25 offset, but we all know that’s not happening. Anyway. I am thinking about getting the rims either powder coated, hydro dipped, or Plastidip if I could get the colors. Which do you think would look better. Yes it’s going to be bright. I have Kings and the blue would match, but I love the green color. Like the hob goblin colors.8D92276B-D413-4864-B7B9-75B1D80633C0.jpg4A349EF5-54D8-4C7B-962D-9D84DE5A6B82.jpg

I have an inferno. So I spend time thinking of these things. I think that blue looks better with the inferno than the green. On an artists colour wheel, that green is almost exact opposite to that orange... not as pleasing a contrast as the blue which is good contrast, but not opposite. I worry the green will look a bit cartoonish- makes me think of the Joker (yes, I know, that's purple and this green).

They both stand out a lot and want some more color. Don’t get me wrong I love the way my truck looks now, but everyone has black wheels on an inferno. Want it to be different. Especially since there’s lots of guys on 17inch rebounds. But since there’s not much choices in 17s I’m sort of stuck with rebounds as they look the best to me. My wife says go with the blue as well. But the polar opposite colors to me reminds me of a pumpkin and for some reason just stand out more to me. And just looked at the hobgoblin and he’s actually blue and orange. Ha ha. For some reason I thought he was green and orange.

That blue in the pic above is kinda purple; I think it looks good.

I can easily get the blue color in Plastidip. But can’t get the green. The green would have to be a more permanent way to get that color. At least with the plastidip I could always remove it if I get bored of it or just want my black rims again. Decisions decisions. Also saw a YouTube video of how to powdercoat at home. Seems easy enough and I can get the green for powder coating. I would of course get a beater rim to try on first. Don’t want to bastardize a new rim. Either way it should be fun. But the plastidip is the cheaper route.

I’ve spent nights thinking about this too for my inferno. The best I came up with were gold/bronze, purple or blue

Ya it’s been driving me crazy. Even more so that I don’t have my truck at the moment. I’m getting my 5.29s installed and lockers fixed. Been about a week now.

Nice, you’ll love the 5.29’s! I’ve had mine for about 6 months now...quite the difference

I know. I can’t wait. Not helping that both my front and rear lockers were installed incorrectly or messed up. The rear carrier was rubbing on the copper line that feeds the locker and destroyed it. The front leaked every 15 seconds or so. Pissed about it to be honest. Paid a lot to get it done. So I figured since I am opening the diffs up again I might as well go 37s and 5.29s. Just waiting for the parts from ARB. Are you on 35s or 37s?

Ya they are more on the purple side. I want more of the Kings blue to match if I’m going that route. Just was looking for examples to help visualize. Not many options to choose from

I think the blue looks really good and would be sick on an inferno tundra.

I have 37’s. It’s a heavy pig but feels nimble after regearing.

That’s what I’m shooting for. I’m loaded with skids and overlanding gear and I use it offroad as much as I can. Need those gears and lockers.23027B2B-3142-47A0-8004-A981CAC0CC9B.jpgB88ECC71-1FA9-4958-B72C-5D0C6A0AF1DE.jpg

Yeah, that King blue would look good. The TRD shocks are about that colour and, before I got 'em dirty off-road, the colour popped and looked good with the inferno. I vote for that!

So far I’m the only one who likes the green I guess. There wasn’t many examples either online.

I’m talking about a green like this. 70789A35-73A9-467F-A8C5-998E184E3109.jpgDB949972-D97A-4388-B12A-E7E69287E980.jpgFC6233F1-B740-421E-B2B5-2FE454137117.jpg

Well, you know, once you added Hulk hands, I got on board. ;)

    (I still vote King blue.)

Well I couldn’t help myself seeing your hulk smash build. Figured I’d try and sway the vote my way somehow. Guess nobody is buying what I’m selling. Ha ha. So I’ll order some of the blue plastidip now for the methods I have until I get my rebounds or by some miracle SCS makes the 17s I want. I’ll post up pics of it when I finally get my truck back and paint them. Now if the plastidip company gets back to me on making the plastidip in the color I want then I will do 1 side in blue and the other in green and then give you guys a real comparison. Which is what I hope happens. One question though. What is the best permanent way(hydro dip, paint, powder coat, etc) to do them when I fully choose? I’ve never done this to wheels before. Always just bought black wheels.

I'm not saavy enough to colour with my danged phone app, so I finally gave up :(, but maybe you can see what I'm thinking:IMG_7629.jpg
You could do Ikon blue on all the facing parts and the inside of the wheel, and that bright green you're so drawn to on the inner planes of the spokes. That way you'd get surprise flashes of the colour, annsit would add depth-- bring out detail-- having 2 colours.

Although, this might work best if the blue is really rick and deeper than Ikon blue.

Dipyourcar.com has some crazy colors and kits for wheels. They always are running specials and sales. You should be able to get a full wheel kit for about $45 for matte and $60 for gloss. I think gloss looks better. I have read that some guys have had good results using a 2k clear over dip, so that's something to think about. I have done my wheels in plasti dip from dip your car in brass monkey and now bronze gold.
Plastidip is temporary so you can change it up or keep trying til you find a color you like

Interesting idea. Sounds pretty cool. Would look trippy. I tried to paint with my phone the idea of doing a carbon fiber hood and black front grill surround to match. Kinda like a giant rally stripe. But it looked like shit and gave up. It’s hard to do with sausage link fingers on a tiny screen. But it would be fun to try that out. See if my paint skills can handle something like that.

Joonbug is the best at it. But maybe it has more to do with his great ideas than his skill with a drawing app. Plus, he has bacon fingers, not sausage.... o_O

Cool! Good example of the orange and a similar green. Looks good.

Maybe not as good as blue though. :D

It looks good. I would go with a darker candy green, but after seeing it I just might have to agree with everyone on the blue. Maybe. Ha ha. We’ll see. Still waiting to get my truck back. I want to start plastidipping.
