I looked in the tire/wheel forum section but couldn't find this answer directly. If it's there I apologize.

I currently have 305/50R20's on my wheels. I like the nice squat look of the tires, makes the truck look like it never skipped leg day. However I'll be needing new tires in the next 6 months or so. Question is this:

What is the flexibility on tire width? I want something more aggressive looking that won't break the bank and 305's are pretty expensive. Can I go to a 275? They seem to be more affordable for the look I'm going for. If not I'm going to have to just go with an economical choice of the same size, which is fine.

Is there a website I can use to look this up?

Any tire manufacturer's site will list approved wheel widths for the specific tire size. There's a little bit of flexibility with what is recommended but at a certain point the sidewall will be stretched too far.

Ehh they seem a little skinny on mine (275/70r18). I'd say 295 would be a nice compromise.

A rough guideline is given below. Specific guidelines is given by tire manufacturers. Some do not recommend 9 inch width for 275/70/18 for instance.

I had 275's on mine...swapped them out for 295s. The 275 is too skinny. Going from a 305 to a 275, you're looking at about an inch skinnier than you're currently running and I don't think you will like it.

Thanks guys. Yeah looks like there's some options but I am a little disappointed when looking around online, looks like 285 to 305 sizes don't vary that much by price. Guess I'll just stick with 305 size unless I find some sort of fantastic deal

    Thanks again
