Not me, but fully respect anyone who climbs poles in bad weather to restore service.

Also I love the song. I don’t think think there are any good songs about computer techs.

Not a lineman but but well aware of the risks involved. We verify and safety check hot sticks and lineman rubber gloves to 100KV which is the highest voltage we can generate. Props to your profession:thumbsup:

I was so close. Long story short I had a friend in the Marine Corps get out and into the lineman apprenticeship in New York. First step apprentice goes through super storm sandy. I talk to him about it for like a year while I'm planning my exit from the Marines. I redo my CPR/AED, get my CDL setup on the GI Bill for starting 3 days after I get out, got my flagger cert and even looked into going to heavy equipment school on the GI Bill also. Gather everything and apply, rank 60 something out of almost 400. I figured since they only indentured 20 apprentices in the previous 2 years I'm not getting in. So I start looking else where. Find a job at my last employer. Two weeks after I start the director calls and tells me I'm number 11 and I need to come do the safety course and sign indenture paperwork that Saturday. I say ok. I was on my way out of town the next day for work and he calls me back and says I'm number 1 and asks if I can come in now. Probably the hardest decision I have had to make was a split second life choice. I spent years trying to get here and at the same time just couldn't walk away from a job that I just started with no notice.

So stay safe and thank you for what you do. We went through Hurricane Irene in NC and lost power after the storm. Those guys were camped everywhere in their trucks for days after the storm.
