Hello all, I've recently developed an annoying clunk while going over uneven terrain i.e. large ruts, quick transitions in surface grade (going down hill and turning sharply onto flat pavement), etc...

I've got a few modifications to the front that may be pertinent to discuss.

6112 at 1.9" with one shim on driver's side
RCI Engine and fuel tank skids
    285/75 - 17 LT tires/wheels

    2018 CM 4X4 ~20k miles

I've checked the torque on all fasteners for the above installations, and found no issues... yet I have an annoying clunk.

This clunk appears to be coming from the firewall area - clearly behind the front suspension. I've been able to consistently replicate this sound by jacking up one side of the truck. The sound occurs just as the front tire begins to lift.

I've captured the sound in question on video. The clunk occurs at the 12 second mark. The video can be viewed here:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gNgzN3ksC8tWi8HzA7C1RPWx9Wt-iSUI/view?usp=sharing

I've also got a video of what I hear in the cab while driving. There's an audible clunk that occurs just as my driver front - then passenger front - then driver rear wheels encounter the quick transition from my driveway to the main road (there's a 1, 2, 3 sound that starts around the 15 second mark). That video can be viewed here:

Any thoughts or recommendations on next checks?

LCA bolts tight? I think it’s 207 foot pounds. A good indicator would be tire wear. Sway bar end links tightened? Maybe try removing the skid plate to see if the noise goes away. All your Lugnuts are tight and the proper type for your wheels? I know you said you checked all the fasteners but did you check them to torque spec?

    Lost track after #1.
Sounds like something isn't flush and is shifting when it gets to a certain point. After you hear it, try tightening all the bolts and fasteners again to see if any are now loose.

    Sorry for the late reply...

I did verify torque on all of the front suspension fasteners and my accessory add-ons prior to posting.

I ended up removing the RCI skid plate, and the noise went away. I cleaned all of the mounting points and applied red thread locker to the 8mm fasteners, and reinstalled. The noise has gone away on my initial test ride. So, RCI skid plate is the culprit.

I'll leave this as is and try a different technique if this noise comes back.
