Oh man I feel your pain.

It’s was a year last Friday 06/21 that my house was broken into and my rifles stolen.

Thing is I caught the bastards that did it. They live across the road from me. Caught them moving my rifles from inside their house to their vehicle.

Now one would reason it’s a simple open shut case right?

Well the guy that was staying with them is who the deputies actually arrested that day. Even after securing my weapons in their car and as well as finding drug paraphernalia in their possession the other two were never arrested or charged

Make a long story short yes I got my shit back that day. For that I am thankful.
But the one who was arrested was released and sent back to Texas. The other two never charged
Reason from the DA office and I quote there is no evidence that a crime was committed.
WTF. don’t even get me started.
2 days after the break in these two were in myrtle beach South Carolina courtesy of her mom who rushed them
Out of states ASAP and knows people in the sheriffs office and da office and got this swept under the rug. Final word from the da office when I confronted one of the ada about this was goodbye the matter is closed don’t talk to us again about this

So here I sit a year later.
No justice. And they mock me when they see me. But hey one of these days they will fuck up and re commit. They always do. I hope and pray they get what they have coming and karma pays them a hard visit.

    Meet the criminals

Yup that’s how I and a lot of other folks feel about this and other incidents.

It is what it is tho sadly.
The house across the road is trashed. At first I felt a little bad for the women who owns it but then she lets them live there and do whatever they want so she made that he’ll she can live I in it. Any thing I may have felt as far as sympathy is long gone. Fuck em all

I have no sympathy for people who don't lock their stuff up, then it gets stolen, and they complain about the thieves. If you lock everything properly, and don't advertise what you have, you most likely won't have trouble. I NEVER leave my truck, house, guns, or anything else if importance to me, unlocked or left out. I despise the filth of thieves, but I despise the ignorance of the common idiot more. If you left your wallet out, and someone took it, do you really think the person who took it is to blame... NOPE, the idiot who left it there is.
Not sorry, lock your shit up!

I have no sympathy for ass wipes who break into other people property and steal. I won’t blame the victims I blamed the ones committing the crime by breaking into some car house office locker or wherever.

Oh don't get me wrong, I hate scumbag thieves. But if you leave your truck unlocked, the problem starts right there.

If someone steals from me, regardless of whether I left my wallet in plain sight or anything else, it is the thief who is wrong. It is unfortunate that there are so many thieves out there that we need to lock our stuff up in order to protect ourselves, but it is always the thief who is in the wrong.

Well the guy that stole mine was walking down my street a week after I went to court. We had a discussion and I never saw him on my street again.

If guns are involved... POLICE REPORT IMMEDIATELY, IMMEDIATELY. Write down ALL your serial numbers, models and makes and descriptions and hide them! If your firearm is used in a crime, YOU will be blamed if you have not reported it.

A little harsh and IMO off base. First off, the OP said he always locks his shit up but was preoccupied and forgot. It happens, and I am confident things happen to you as well that you didn’t intend to do.
Sure, safeguarding your possessions is the responsible thing to do. And yes, the POS who steals things that are not his/hers IS to blame. I don’t even understand how you could see it the other way around.

So the op is responsible by leaving a gun in the truck and then not locking it? I can side with the op had there not been a weapon involved. But, being irresponsible with a gun trump's being a jackass that steals shit. There's enough shooting bullshit going on right now, and now another gun in the hands of some punk. It's not off base at all. If you can't keep your guns in your own possession, you don't deserve to have them or complain about the moron who stole them from your UNLOCKED truck. What's harsh about that?
    Just an opinion here too...

But, that’s not what you said. You made it sound like if someone doesn’t lock up their stuff and get things stolen then it was on them. I’ll agree 100 percent with you when it comes to guns. There is no leeway there.

Thieves are always checking vehicle doors in my neighborhood. One of the few times I didn’t lock, they stole my brand new waterproof BT speaker I put in the console for a camping trip. Now I have a visible camera looking down where I park and it caught a guy saying “camera” to his perp friend, and they skipped my Tundra.

I hear you, but I was definitely referring to the lack of responsibility with the gun.

 I agree. I just bought the center console safe. I know that’s not anything guaranteed but it’s another level for security.

Oh boy, this happened to me about 6 years ago to my old taco. The kid tried stealing my stereo but couldn't get it out all the way and broke some of my dash trim in the process, and stole a decoy wallet I had in my center console.

I'm sorry this happened and I hope you get your gun back!

My truck and all neighbors vehicles got broken into. I lost an air compressor. My truck was locked, guy got into every vehicle using some electronic gadget. Neighbor got him on camera. Only consolation was nothing got broken. My thief was considerate at least. He got caught but I never got compressor back. Thieves do suck.

I hate thieves too. They make our world a tougher place to get by. I'm looking into a center console gun safe too. Not perfect, but would sure slow them down.

I've had locks picked, windows smashed, and just forgot to close the garage door one night...all 3 separate incidents and all 3 different vehicles. Thieves are the ones that suck...period.

My '94 V6 4x4 pre-Tacoma truck was stolen the day before I was going to put the plates on it; it was new. I ran outside with my gun, woken from sleep at 2am by the alarm. By the time I got outside, they had rolled it into the street, the alarm was off, and they were driving it away. I was livid. It was found because of its Lojack the next day by a police helicopter that picked up the signal as it was flying over. I got it back, but still, they had busted the 4x shift lever and messed up the passenger door trying to pry out the door handle/lock. I was listening on my police radio and heard them recover it. It was towed to the place where OJ's Bronco had been taken. And to add insult to injury I had to pay about 180 bucks to get it out of impound, and then deal with insurance reimbursement on top of the damage. I feel for the OP, that Smith 66 is a nice K frame 357 stainless with adjustable sights if memory serves. Old Smiths are a soft spot with me. Yea he should have locked the door, should not have left it there, but heck, I didn't put my wheel lock thing on my truck either... Them taking it was not my fault. We are the victims, remember that.
