As I’m sure most of you know, Toyota is finally going to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the 2020 Tundra model. I ran across this article about Toyota upgrading 2018 Camrys and Siennas with Apple CarPlay free of charge (wasn’t offered in 2018). Anyone think Toyota will do the same with Tundras? Maybe it’s just my wishful thinking as the owner of a 2018. The entune system in our trucks is my biggest complaint.

Not according to the local dealer. They are just trying to keep rental car sales as the Camry and Siennas are the two big sellers for that market.

Wonder how much it would cost to pay them to make the upgrade once it comes out...

I heard its a bigger screen and different style hu. So wiring will most likely be different.

The problem with aftermarket head units (or the best thing about toyota units) is the lack of hard buttons and real knobs. I may be alone or in a minority, but I hate using a touch screen while I'm driving. So, assuming the interface will be similar, I'd gladly pay for a toyota radio that combines analog controls with google voice commands that are actually interpreted correctly.

If they delete those analog controls to get a bigger screen (which sounds like it might be the case), I'll be happy I have a 2018 and just get one of those smart phone mirroring kits (and try to figure out how improve the crappy sound quality)

I did the carplay software upgrade myself on my 2018 camry. Files are available online. took about 45min.
So much better ! I hated the Toyota entunes suite. Now I can use Waze and google maps as well as Siri for reading texts, calling etc..
