Little mini rant here cuz I’m still pretty pissed about this...

I was in Alexandria this past weekend moving my girl to her new place and in all the going back and forth I forgot to lock my truck Sunday night. I know that a dumb mistake but it also infuriated me that we live in a world where EVERYTHING we own has to stay locked and monitored!

Anyway, I woke up Monday morning, went to my truck to load up and come home and noticed my glovebox was open and a few things were shifted around... I immediately looked around the truck and didn’t notice anything missing at first (my desalt cordless drill combo was still right there on the floorboard in its carry bag) but when I opened the center console I really got pissed.

We can all get into an argument on the poor decision I made but that’s really not the point here.. my 357 Smith and Wesson revolved was in the center console and is now gone! I know it was dumb to leave it in the truck AND it was dumb not to double check the truck was locked. It’s also REALLY annoying that we live in a world where people feel the need to just take anything they can get their lazy A$$ hands on!

I feel like of us on this site would sink to this level of rudeness and if any of y’all live in the Alexandria area and frequent pawn shops or any other place that might broker guns, please keep a lookout for mine. I filed a police report and their CSU team came out and took prints of anything they could and said they got some pretty good prints and even a full palm so I’m hoping whoever this loser was is in their system and they can do something about it.

I don’t even really care that the person gets majorly punished I just want the gun back as it was a family pass down that been around for at least 40 years!

    Details on the gun:
    Smith and Wesson 357 SnubNose
Stainless finish with enlarged black rubber grip
Brown leather holster. Here’s the box it came on for all the exact details:

    8B4301E9-8B00-4B91-A7F2-CDD4346D019F.jpg

Sorry for the rant... just looking for any help I can get getting this thing back

That sucks. I hope they recover it quickly.

$10 says it is already in the hands of a drug dealer.

Hopefully someone gets arrested with it before they obliterate the serial number.

Unfortunately, because they left the cordless drill, I doubt the gun will turn up in a pawn shop.

Thieves piss me off. People that leave firearms in vehicles, locked or not, or leave them unnecessarily unattended piss me off more. :hattip:

I hate thieves. I am fortunate enough to live in an area where people don't need to lock their doors. However, I never leave a firearm in my vehicle. I understand that the post was part rant and mostly an attempt to locate the stolen revolver and I hope it turns up. If you haven't already, it is a good idea to report the loss to the police both to protect you in case it is used in a crime and in case someone turns it in.

It's a mistake, it happens. Understand your frustration with people taking shit form others. Been going on since the beginning of time and won't stop anytime soon. Hope you get your gun back.

My neighbor across the street had her car broken into last night. She wants me to look on my cameras to see if I can see anything. If only it were legal to catch someone.....I would love to see how accurate the laser is.

You are definitely the exception. I know of many, many people in TN that have had guns stolen and never recovered them. I only know of 2-3 that get them back. It is exceptionally rare.

if that gun is used to commit a crime and they find, im sure you will be notified BUT don't expect to get it back until it's no longer evidence. IF you have homeowners you maybe able to submit a claim but depending on your deductible and potential increase on your premium maybe cheaper to buy another gun.

This has bothered me forever. Where I used to live I was loading crap to go to storage once and my truck was parked on the street. Wife said we got invited to dinner last minute so I cleaned myself up and locked a really old 80s road bike to my truck since I didn't have time to take it back in. When we came home some bastard stole the wheels and tires off it! They tried cutting my 7/8" cable and failed so they left just the frame behind.

I hate thieves. Hope you get the gun back.

This is what I do and totally understand we can’t always bring weapons with us.

    33F3A6C4-9984-4B58-8028-1C6B48B9E6FC.jpg 325D1BE0-0128-429B-A15F-19618896C6B9.jpg E50DA77A-97B9-41DE-8B43-C47D964A9293.jpg 840E1CAB-947B-4B37-947D-905F5E36AECD.jpg 115B0896-5787-4E87-A4A8-878843581B30.jpg

This is only for when I go into federal buildings or my kids schools, for short periods of times.

Stack On portable safes are 29.00 on sale. This will work for the smash and grab thief. This is not secure for someone that has 15 minutes, nor are the console safes.

I don’t lock up magazines. Hell, I have those everywhere. It’s almost ridiculous.

Leaving a gun in a locked vehicle is never a good idea over night. I’m never in a place that I can’t bring it with me. I don’t associate with those sorts.

My wife is not necessarily gun friendly, but has her own. When we first met and on our first date, she seen my SIG 226 in my holster mount on my ‘99 Tacoma. She asked if that was a gun (like she was shocked).

I stopped the vehicle, and had a quick, but firm discussion with her about guns and the pecking order in my life, being as charming as I could be (I still wanted some ass after all). I gave her an out, that’s for sure. 18 years later, guess it hasn’t bothered her, other than she likes SIGs and I’m a Glock hooker. I can deal with that.

Love mine and I expect it will be on the OP's mod list now. I didn't have a gun safe until my house got broken into back in the 80's. Luckily I got everything back, but a couple of them were tossed out the window in a high-speed chase through Dallas, so they were trashed. Now I have to figure out what is locked where.
