Yes Sir, you are 100% correct.

I actually struggled with that thought. Originally I was going to buy a 30K tundra and then buy all the TRD or aftermarket stuff but then after I calculated everything out, it would've only been a few thousand less that if I would've bought a true TRD PRO truck.....why have a clone when you can buy the real thing for only a few grand more????

.....futhermore....you also get a higher resale value with a true PRO tundra and not a clone.

i purchased my wife's rav4 certified and have been very happy with the quality of the vehicle and the warranty coverage. not that i've had to use it though. I've considered purchasing our next tundra certified.

I think OP bought the truck and started driving home and forgot about the world-class advisory council here.

I almost bought a 15 Pro a few years back, I decided not too since 15 doesn't have 38 gallon tank. OP if you haven't purchased the truck I would look for a 16 with 38 gallon tank. Best upgrade Toyota did with the Pro. If you did buy the truck congrats you will love it.

Good luck with the truck. 16 hour road trip should get you well acquainted with it, and you will definitely know if you made the right choice by the end of the trip. My wife has a Honda Element 07 as well which she loves. When I had my FJ cruiser people would confuse the two all the time which had me scratching my head.

Well.............I ended not buying it because the truck had mechanical issues that they tried to pass off and ignore.

    * Right after I pulled off the lot the alignment was OFF....the steering wheel had to be cocked to the right 5 degrees to right just to go straight.

    * The steering wheel was shaking at low speeds alot

    * The steering wheel was shaking at high speeds alot.

I also said the sales man, "How is it I am only driving it for 10 minutes and found these issues immediately, but yet your technicians and managers didn't catch it and signed it off as being good and toyota certified???" The salesman didn't have an answer for me.

The Salesman kept on saying "It's toyota certified, they wouldn't have signed it off if there were issues" <-------BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    COMPLETE BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So we get back to the dealership and we pulled directly into the service bay so they could fix those issues.....the salesman and service manager both said they'd put me first because I was buying the truck.

Meanwhile, I went to the Used Car Sale's Manager and I told him that I had the exact same issue with my Lexus LX 470 and it ended up being the tires because no alignment or balance could fix it cause the tires were bad and cupped. He rudely cut me off and said "We're NOT replacing tires" and he also said "Well you probably have flat spots on the tires cause it's been sitting there for a week (he's full of SH*T)
    :crapstorm:

......I was a bit stunned with his attitude, so I let it go hoping they could rectify the issue.

The salesman and finance manager tried to get me to sign off on all the paperwork to buy the truck before it was even back from service and I'm like "No, I'm not signing nothing until I know for sure those issues are fixed.".......they both were taken back with my reluctance.

So now, I'm thinking that in 30 minutes they'd come back and tell me something....butttttt.......NOPE!!!!!!!!

........2 and 1/2 FREAKING HOURS later they came back and said everything is fixed and the technician double checked everything. Now at this point, I am clearly frustrated.

So we went for a 2nd test drive and guess what, you'd think the issues would be fixed....but NOPE......the Alignment still wasn't right and the steering wheel shake was still present.

So we get back to the dealership again and I asked my salesman if I could ask the tech about still the issues that weren't fixed and he told me to wait there and he would ask for me. Hummmmmm????? Of course he came back and said the truck is good.

I told the salesman once again that it wasn't right and those tires have to be replaced because that's what rectified the issue with my Lexus LX 470.....but the salesman said his Manager won't do it because it would eat away at the their bottomline of the truck.

So, Here we are, 7 hours into this ridiculous ordeal they swore up and down before I got there that the truck was it was in excellent condition with no issues. I am now pissed cause all they're doing is throwing in my face "It's Toyota certified, they wouldn't have signed it off if there were issues". Furthermore, because they delayed to look at the truck so long, I missed my return flight home.....and I'm hungry cause I've been there since almost 1030 and have had nothing but water.

So I go into the finance manager's office and we're going through the initial paperwork and then we get to the part where we sign all the loan paperwork. I'm sitting thinking to myself:

"They won't even fix the issues; they won't replace the obviously bad original tires; what did the original owner did to knock the original alignment off so badly?; this is complete BS!!!!!"

--------------So before I signed, I told them "I don't want to buy this truck anymore"

I told the finance manager to give me my deposit back and he's like "I don't think we can do that". So he had to check with his boss and of course they refunded me my deposit back.

Then the salesman finally asked me if I had the LYFT app on my phone and he said "I have a family to feed and good luck to you"......LOL!!!! :eek2:He picked me up from the airport too.....

.............THEY ALL WERE PISSED AT ME!!!!!!!!!!!

So I ended getting stuck there until Monday evening when I could catch a flight home........UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

    - You know, they had the nerve to try to insult me by telling me all that BS with that truck was right, when it wasn't.

    - I think they purposely delayed servicing the truck so I'd miss my returning flight home with their hopes that I would just buy the truck outta frustration.

    - They obviously knew something was wrong with the truck and that's why it's been sitting on their lot for over a month now.

    ALL IN ALL.....
It end up being a bust and a crappy weekend for me but atleast I didn't screw myself over by buying a truck with lots of potential hidden problems/issues that this stealership obviously pencil whipped on their Toyota certification and tried to pass onto me as the buyer.

You absolutely, postively made the correct decision. Without question.
Turns out there are more trucks out there, and they make new ones every day. And honestly the larger tank would be a deal breaker for me if i had a choice. Which you, now do.

Sorry it turned out the way it did. Its hard to believe they won't at least entertain splitting the cost of new tires with you. If it fixed the issue then re-imburse you the difference.

Don't let this turn you off of the Toyota Family. It's not the trucks fault it had bad parents/owner.

The the right truck will find you. It always does.

You dodged a bulletin there. Next one will be the one. Look at the 16 model year has the bigger gas tank.

I searched and searched until I found the truck I wanted. Drove to upper NY, Mt. Kisco to look at it, from MA. Then drove to lower NY Brooklyn look at another..same day. The people in Brooklyn were fraud...the truck was not there.
Had to go back to MT Kisco during the week to finalize sale and pick up. Took a while to get inspection sticker...dealer did not have experience doing sale to MA resident.

However with all of that I love my truck. Distinctive factors were type..1794, color....brown, look...BullBar and fogs.
Everyone see the truck love it, compare to other 1794 it have a special look...due to color.
You have to decide if you can be happy with another truck and color or will you always see another truck and wish you had gotten the color you want...
Little more to be satisfied with your decision is a lot of smiles.
    Go get it
